Story
Meet Eli!  This handsome guy was rescued along with his daughter, Bella, from the working life of dogs that belonged to a breeder.  To this man all the dogs were simply property.  Eli spent 10 years living life in a crate only being handled when he was 'needed'.  You would never know this sweet boy merely existed.  He shows none of the scars you would expect him to have.  Eli is a very sweet and loving southern gentleman who is slowly learning to live life as a pet.  He is adjusting to fresh air and grass.  Both of which were a truly new experience for him.  He began going outside only because he wanted to stay near his foster mom.  Now he happily walks around the yard and joins Bella and his other foster brothers and sisters for a little sunshine.  Eli is a very smart boy and is already housebroken.  He is also doing a great job walking on a leash.  Eli's favorite place is either in the chair curled up or louging on the back of the chair.  He is able to see everything from that perch.  Eli is ready to find his forever home.  He has plenty of years let to enjoy the good things that life has to offer.  He is looking for a quiet home full of patience and understanding.  He needs a family that will be there for him but allow him to adjust and blossom and his own pace.  You won't be sorry if you add this gentleman to your family.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application. please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Eli is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  No small children.  October 13, 2025, 5:11 pm

Story
Beautiful Bella and her dad, Eli, were rescued from lives as working dogs for a breeder who treated them as property. Poor Bella had been bred so many times during her eight years of life that her insides were severely swollen and infected. Critter Cavalry arrived just in time to save her from a painful death.  Bella is now happy and healthy as she slowly adjusts to life as a pet. She is a very smart girl who just wants to be near you. While she is not needy, she is keenly aware of where her foster mom is and likes to see her. Bella has learned to use the doggie door and is now housebroken. This process was easy for her because she follows her foster mom everywhere.  The most challenging hurdle Bella has faced so far has been discovering the freedom of the outdoors, along with the sensation of soft grass beneath her feet, which felt strange at first compared to the concrete she was used to. Learning to sleep with her foster mom was extremely easy for her; she thrives on the closeness and warmth. Bella will be a loyal companion for the right family. She needs a quiet, loving home where she feels safe and is treated with patience and understanding. At eight years old, Bella is not old for a poodle—she has a lot of life left to live and much untapped love waiting to be shared with her new family. (Please note: no small children.) If you are interested in considering Bella as a permanent member of your family and would like to request an application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. An approved application and adoption fee are required. Bella is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.November 7, 2025, 4:19 pm

*** PLEASE READ FULL BIO *** Meet Rowan! Breed: mini doodle. Age: 1.5 years (est birthdate 2/2024) Weight: approx 30lbs. Training: crate trained, we are working on house and leash training. He will need continued training and guidance as he hasn't had many life experiences. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes, LOVES other dogs. In fact, he'd do best with another dog to teach him the ropes. Good with adults/kids? Yes, although he is shy/submissive at first. Personality: shy but curious. Playful. Reason for rescue: breeder release, retiring. Rowan spent the first year of his life in a kennel with little socialization. He has come so far, but will need a patient and understanding owner to help him become the wonderful companion we know he can be! He wants attention, but he is learning to accept it. He loves other dogs and we feel he needs another dog in his new home to show him how to be a companion! A fenced yard is best for Rowan as he learns how to walk on a leash. ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME & A FENCED YARD IS REQUIRED. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $350.November 29, 2025, 4:29 pm

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 10/15/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Found as stray and landed at a NC shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Rex was found as a stray. We have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a poodle mix. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? What Rex wants most in the world is connection. He doesn’t crave the company of other dogs, though he gets along well with them. What he truly longs for is you. You will be the center of his universe, the calm in his chaos, the person he looks for in every room. Because of his gentle and affectionate nature, Rex would do best in a calm, steady home — one without the noise and bustle of young life or constant commotion. He’s a sweet soul who thrives in peaceful surroundings and cherishes one-on-one time. A family that’s home most of the day would be ideal, as Rex loves companionship and feels happiest when he’s close to his humans. Rex doesn’t need another dog to keep him happy. In fact, he’d be perfectly content as your one and only. If there is another dog in the home, that companion should be kind and willing to share affection - because Rex soaks up love like a sponge and truly wants it all. What is my personality like? Rex is an estimated one-year-old poodle mix with a heart of pure gold. He’s a farm favorite — the kind of dog everyone stops to greet, the one who wins people over with just one look into those soft, soulful eyes. Rex isn’t just loved — he radiates love. Every wag of his tail, every gentle nuzzle, every quiet sigh as he curls up beside you says, “You’re my person.” Rex is not the kind of dog who needs constant action or adventure. His idea of happiness is simple - a long stretch on the couch, a cozy blanket, a soft hand to rest his head on, and the comforting sound of your voice. He’s the ultimate snuggle companion — a movie marathon buddy, a morning coffee partner, and the perfect nap-time friend after a long day. This boy wants to be in the bed with you! When Rex first arrives in his new home, he may take a little time to settle in. He’ll need gentle patience as he learns your routines and begins to understand that he’s finally home for good. But once he trusts you, his devotion runs deep. He’ll follow you from room to room, curl up beside you whenever he can, and offer a quiet, unwavering kind of love that fills your heart in the best way possible. Rex is sweet, soft, and endlessly loving — a dog who will give you everything once he feels safe. In return, all he asks is that you open your heart and your home to him. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will adore you completely, who will find joy in simply being with you, and who will remind you every single day how beautiful unconditional love can be — Rex is waiting. How do I act when I first meet new people? Rex loves to meet new people. If you're walking on a sidewalk, he's that guy crossing the street to say hi and make a new friend. Other tips and tidbits: Rex was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 1 year old. We celebrate his birthday 09/15/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 13, 2025, 12:18 pm

No reason given but most likely she had more males than needed Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None medically - lots socially (see below) Weight: 21 lbs est Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes - without exception.  Simba is a fight risk especially for his first few months in a new home.  A physically fenced and secure fence is necessary while he learns to love you like he loves his foster mom now.  Once you've earned that trust, he will never leave your side.   What kind of home would be best for me? Simba's perfect home will be a single person, probably a single woman, who is looking for an active, strong and opinionated little boy who wants to hand her his heart and become her prince and her best friend.  Simba adores his foster mom and only slightly tolerates the rest of the humans in his life.  We think he will transfer that care and affection to the right person, but it's got to be just the right person.   Simba needs someone who understands dogs raised without proper socialization or exposure to the world.  Much is still new to Simba.  He needs patience and gentle guidance.  I do not believe Simba will ever be "normal" but he can be someone's companion, and he continues to become better in many ways than the dog we received last year.  I think, especially with a lot of one-on-one attention, he will continue to make progress.  It will not be easy but for the right person, it will be fun and satisfying.  If you enjoy changing and shaping dog behavior and watching positive changes in a dog due to your hard work and dedication, it will be an amazing process.  Simba is wicked smart.  He wants to learn.   Simba adores other dogs, especially large dogs.  His current besties are two standard poodles and a cavapoo.  They run, romp, dash about and in general have the very best time running the back trails here at the poodle farm.  He needs at least one other playful dog in his life, and preferably a large one.  If it is a smaller one, better be a sturdy one who can keep up with him. Simba is all athlete - strong, muscled and powerful.  He is dynamite (personality and physical strength) in a neat, compact body.   What is my personality like?  Simba is a quirky little guy with many facets to his personality.  To foster mom, he is a velcro dog, looking for her everywhere.  Wherever she is, Simba is.  To foster dad he's a pain in the neck with his constant barking and resource guarding the upstairs because upstairs is his safe spot.  To the caregivers, when foster mom brings him to her office, he is bipolar.  Some days he's all over them, happy as can be.  The next day, he is resource guarding against everyone in the place.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  If we are in foster mom's office, he will be relaxed on the opposite side of the gate from you. He will look at you curiously and if his foster siblings approach you for a treat, he may go with them. If you were to come into his foster home and he was upstairs, he would stand at the top and bark and bark and warn you off.  He does not want strangers in his safe space.   Other tips and tidbits: 1/23/2023 is Simba's exact birthdate.   If you've gotten this far down, good for you.  I am sure a lot of people stopped early on because we've tried to make it very, very obvious that Simba is beautiful, but he is a project and a handful.  Simba is also on our SOS sponsorship scroller because we understand that finding a home for him is going to be very, very difficult.  It's not fair to Simba not to try - so here we are. Simba was adopted once and returned.  The adopter owns his father, who is a far different personality than Simba, more laid back and gentle.  It lasted a few weeks but ultimately, we determined Simba needed an owner who had a gentley firm hand and what he was getting was spoiled and pampered. Simba was making the other dogs in the home, including dear old Dad, far too nervous to leave him there.  Simba is a LOT of dog.   House trained? He is getting constant reminders, but he was intact for a very long time.  It's going to be a tough haul to completely house train him.  He looks great in a belly band.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
