Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue:12/3/2024 - yes, he has been here a year Reason for being in rescue:  Breeder release. No reason given but most likely she had more males than needed Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None medically - lots socially (see below) Weight: 21 lbs est Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes - without exception.  Simba is a fight risk especially for his first few months in a new home.  A physically fenced and secure fence is necessary while he learns to love you like he loves his foster mom now.  Once you've earned that trust, he will never leave your side.   What kind of home would be best for me? Simba's perfect home will be a single person, probably a single woman, who is looking for an active, strong and opinionated little boy who wants to hand her his heart and become her prince and her best friend.  Simba adores his foster mom and only slightly tolerates the rest of the humans in his life.  We think he will transfer that care and affection to the right person, but it's got to be just the right person.   Simba needs someone who understands dogs raised without proper socialization or exposure to the world.  Much is still new to Simba.  He needs patience and gentle guidance.  I do not believe Simba will ever be "normal" but he can be someone's companion, and he continues to become better in many ways than the dog we received last year.  I think, especially with a lot of one-on-one attention, he will continue to make progress.  It will not be easy but for the right person, it will be fun and satisfying.  If you enjoy changing and shaping dog behavior and watching positive changes in a dog due to your hard work and dedication, it will be an amazing process.  Simba is wicked smart.  He wants to learn.   Simba adores other dogs, especially large dogs.  His current besties are two standard poodles and a cavapoo.  They run, romp, dash about and in general have the very best time running the back trails here at the poodle farm.  He needs at least one other playful dog in his life, and preferably a large one.  If it is a smaller one, better be a sturdy one who can keep up with him. Simba is all athlete - strong, muscled and powerful.  He is dynamite (personality and physical strength) in a neat, compact body.   What is my personality like?  Simba is a quirky little guy with many facets to his personality.  To foster mom, he is a velcro dog, looking for her everywhere.  Wherever she is, Simba is.  To foster dad he's a pain in the neck with his constant barking and resource guarding the upstairs because upstairs is his safe spot.  To the caregivers, when foster mom brings him to her office, he is bipolar.  Some days he's all over them, happy as can be.  The next day, he is resource guarding against everyone in the place.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  If we are in foster mom's office, he will be relaxed on the opposite side of the gate from you. He will look at you curiously and if his foster siblings approach you for a treat, he may go with them. If you were to come into his foster home and he was upstairs, he would stand at the top and bark and bark and warn you off.  He does not want strangers in his safe space.   Other tips and tidbits: 1/23/2023 is Simba's exact birthdate.   If you've gotten this far down, good for you.  I am sure a lot of people stopped early on because we've tried to make it very, very obvious that Simba is beautiful, but he is a project and a handful.  Simba is also on our SOS sponsorship scroller because we understand that finding a home for him is going to be very, very difficult.  It's not fair to Simba not to try - so here we are. Simba was adopted once and returned.  The adopter owns his father, who is a far different personality than Simba, more laid back and gentle.  It lasted a few weeks but ultimately, we determined Simba needed an owner who had a gentley firm hand and what he was getting was spoiled and pampered. Simba was making the other dogs in the home, including dear old Dad, far too nervous to leave him there.  Simba is a LOT of dog.   House trained? He is getting constant reminders, but he was intact for a very long time.  It's going to be a tough haul to completely house train him.  He looks great in a belly band.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 6, 2025, 10:22 am

Carolina Poodle Rescue partnered with the shelter and other rescues to get the dogs into rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jetta is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Jetta was abandoned outside a shelter. We have no information on her life pre-rescue. Weight: 31 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? Yes, Jetta requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Jetta gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and would fit well in many different home environments. While she could be happy as an only dog, Jetta would truly shine in a home with another playful dog to romp around with, as she loves to play and enjoys canine companionship. With her energetic nature, she also loves spending time outdoors and would appreciate a home that can offer her opportunities to explore and burn off some energy. What is my personality like? Jetta is an almost two-year-old small black Standard Poodle with a loving heart and a joyful, youthful spirit. She is a sweet, affectionate girl who is truly looking for a family to call her own. Jetta thrives on human connection and adores attention, happily soaking up every bit of love you’re willing to give. Because of this, she can be a bit needy in the best way and would do best with adopters who enjoy an affectionate, people-focused companion. Jetta is still learning the basics of pet life and will need guidance with leash walking, household manners, and everyday routines. She is eager and bright, making her a great candidate for continued training. She is already crate trained and does very well during grooming, which will make day-to-day care much easier. Jetta is very nervous in cars - she likely hasn't had much experience. She pants profusely and will urinate. Her forever home will need to work with her to help her understand that car rides mean adventure. With patience, consistency, and lots of affection, Jetta will grow into a devoted and joyful companion who brings enthusiasm, love, and fun into her forever home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Jetta is sweet and affectionate, meeting people with enthusiasm. Other tips and tidbits: We have no history on Jetta pre-rescue. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate her birthday 2/3/2024 House trained? TENTATIVE: On 01/21/26 Mia had a dental polishing. Weight: 14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes. Mia is better suited for a house with a fenced in yard where she can run and play.  What kind of home would be best for me? Mia is looking for a home with another small dog, as she finds comfort and confidence in canine companionship. Larger dogs are overwhelming for her, and she would not be comfortable living in a home with big dogs. A calm, friendly small-dog buddy will help her feel secure as she adjusts to her new life. Much of pet life is still new to Mia, so she will need time, patience, and guidance to learn what it means to be a beloved household pet. She will require all basic training and support as she learns house manners, routines, and expectations. While she is fun and playful, Mia is not well suited for a loud, chaotic, or constantly changing environment. She thrives best in a calm, predictable home where she can settle in and grow at her own pace. What is my personality like? Mia is a sweet Miniature Poodle who is just beginning to discover that love and attention can be every bit as fun as playtime. Mia has never known life as a pet so everything is new. She is a hidden gem just waiting to be polished. Mia is young, playful, and full of personality, with a gentle charm that shines once she feels safe and settled. With gentle guidance, a steady routine, and a small canine friend by her side, Mia has all the potential to bloom into a joyful, affectionate little dog who brings warmth and happiness to her forever home. Once she settles in, she is playful and full of energy. She loves to run and play with her canine companions. How do I act when I first meet new people? At first, Mia can be shy and a bit timid, but with patience and consistency, she blossoms into a happy, playful little companion. Other tips and tidbits: Mia's birthday is 08-15-2020 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Dewey was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a poodle mix - only a DNA test will tell. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 23 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Dewey’s the kind of dog who can make you laugh without even trying with his silly expressions, bouncy energy, and never-ending enthusiasm for life. We have no doubt he’d love a home with kids to run around and play with  - the more chaos, the better! Dewey is intensely active and MUST have another active dog in the home. He NEEDS a playmate and THRIVES when he has one.  What Dewey really wants is life, adventure and fun! He's not suited for living with shared walls (apartments, townhomes, etc.) as he talks to you when you leave the room and will sing when he's alone. He's more of a go-everywhere-with-you sort of companion. He wants to go, go, go! In the backyard, inside, at the park, at the beach. Anywhere! Dewey MUST have an active family. What is my personality like? Meet Dewey - the Zoomie King! The Playtime Extraordinaire! It is GO! GO! GO! If life had a fast-forward button, Dewey would be holding it down! This goofy, lovable poodle mix seems to have one speed - top speed - and he’s always ready for his next grand adventure. Whether it’s chasing a ball, zipping around the yard, or running joyful laps for absolutely no reason, Dewey is all about go, go, go! Dewey LOVES his doggy friends - seriously, they’re his favorite thing in the world (right after snacks and zoomies). He loves people, too - the more, the merrier! Dewey is up for anything active - long hikes, dog park adventures, spontaneous sprints through the yard - you name it, he’s in. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and brings a burst of joy wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a four-legged comedian, exercise partner, and all-around fun factory, Dewey’s your guy. Just make sure you can keep up - because slowing down isn’t really his thing! How do I act when I first meet new people? Dewey will bound into the room ready to play. Seriously - this boy has never met a stranger! Dewey is full of life and speed!  Other tips and tidbits: Dewey was found as a stray. We have absolutely no history on him. PeeWee is a dog's dog. Play time with other dogs is important in his life. He feels most confident when he has canine companions nearby and often takes comfort in watching and learning from them. A home with another friendly, confident dog is required for this handsome boy, as having a role model helps him feel secure and supported. PeeWee has never lived as a pet. A small companion with a confident and calm demeanor will be an important guide as he learns what being a pet means. PeeWee is best suited for a quiet, stable household with predictable routines. Loud or fast-moving environments may feel overwhelming for him. In the right home - one that offers patience, structure, and calm companionship - PeeWee has the potential to become a devoted, affectionate little dog who brings quiet joy and loyalty to his family. What is my personality like? PeeWee is a middle-aged Toy Poodle with a soft spirit and a curious heart that is just beginning to open up to the world around him. Right now, PeeWee is a blank slate awaiting your painting.  PeeWee is motivated by food, which will be a helpful tool as he learns basic training skills, house routines, and expectations. Much of pet life is still new to him, but he is beginning to understand that humans can be kind, predictable, and loving. He will need gentle instruction when it comes to leash walking and adjusting to everyday activities. With patience, encouragement, and consistency, he will continue to grow more confident and comfortable.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  Gentle and thoughtful by nature, PeeWee can be shy in unfamiliar situations and prefers to approach new experiences slowly, taking time to feel safe before fully engaging. He is not a dog who rushes - he learns best when allowed to move at his own pace. Other tips and tidbits: Peewee's birthday is 9/12/2016 House trained? Flurry gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and would do well in most home settings. He has a light, happy energy and loves spending time outside, whether that’s playing, exploring, or just enjoying the fresh air. What is my personality like? Flurry is a small white male Standard Poodle with a bright spirit and a heart that’s ready to belong. Estimated at nearly two years old, he’s a charming blend of affectionate and self-sufficient - happy to be near his people and enjoy their company, but also comfortable entertaining himself and taking breaks when he needs them. He’s the kind of dog who enjoys attention without demanding it every second, making him a lovely balance of needy and independent. Flurry is still learning the rhythms of home life and will benefit from continued guidance with leash walking, basic manners, and everyday routines. He’s an intelligent boy who wants to do well and will thrive with gentle, consistent training. He is crate trained and does well for grooming, which makes daily care and maintenance much easier. With patience, structure, and love, Flurry will settle into his new home and become a devoted, easygoing companion - one who brings both warmth and calm to the people lucky enough to call him theirs. How do I act when I first meet new people? Flurry is a happy, bright boy who enjoys meeting new faces and making new friends. Other tips and tidbits: We do not have any pre-rescue paperwork on Flurry. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 18 months old. We celebrate his birthday 08/03/2024. House trained? February 12, 2026, 12:08 pm
