Good with dogs,
Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue:  05/31/55 - we've been trying to get him healthy Reason for being in rescue: Owner release/owner's has family member moving in who is allergic Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Chatham is a senior boy. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Chatham has mature cataracts but at his age, surgery is not recommended. He does still have some vision. On 06/26/25 Chatham had a dental with extractions.   Weight: 16 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 I am priceless Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? This is the sweetest old man.  We are looking for a home that has a heart for seniors.  Chatham is so easy to take care of.  He's low maintenance, wanting his bed, a pat and a "good boy" at least once a day and his food.  He is EASY. What is my personality like?  So humble.  So eager to simply be a small part of your life. So unassuming and so easy to care for. I wish I had known him when he was younger. I am betting he was amazing.  He still is, but in a very low key kind of way. How do I act when I first meet new people?  Simple affection without being overwhelming. He is confident and all it takes is a soft treat and he's your BFF for life. Other tips and tidbits: Chatham's birthday is 01/31/09 - yes.  He is that old.  And going strong.  Chatham has a bit of a sensitive system. He is tolerating our science diet well.  He has a tendency to pick up parasites.  His system is susceptible to them, so no dog parks please.   He is a very senior dog but he still has life left in him and would love for it to be one being spoiled.  He's a little hard of hearing.  He does not see very well but don't tease him with a stick of pupperoni.  His smeller works just fine.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 5, 2025, 4:14 pm

Penny is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 11/12/25 Penny had a dental with 4 extractions. She also had a deep ear cleaning. Weight: 14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $825 for Penny and Cindy together - they are a team and we will not split them up Fence needed? Not necessarily although neither are super on a leash just yet.  If adopted to a non fenced home, it would take some time and patience.  Both are busy girls when in the yard and love the freedom of a fenced in space.  First preference will be given to single family fenced in yards but to the right person. we can discuss a non fenced in area. What kind of home would be best for me?  Penny and Cindy are looking for a home where they can live peacefully together. They are a bonded pair, always looking for each other.  They would not be happy without each other.  Please do not ask if we can split them up.  The shelter that sent them to us specifically requested they be together and after 30 days of observation, we absolutely agree.  They need each other.   The nice thing about a bonded pair is, if you work all day, they have each other for company. They do not need someone home all the time. They are perfectly content playing poodley girl games while you are away and once your home, it'll be a lap sandwich with one on each side of you in the recliner.  They love people and want one of their own but they have each other, too.  Penny and Cindy are sweet, gregarious girls who are looking for a home together.  They get along great with other dogs and would do well with companions or with just the two of them.  What is my personality like?  Penny is the leader of the small pack of two. She bosses Cindy around but she is also constantly checking on Cindy and making sure she knows where her bestie is at.   Penny is strong and active. She loves to be at her people's feet and when you are home, you'll have two tiny satellites surrounding you and checking in what you are doing.  Penny especially is a "door dasher" - the minute a door opens, she is through it and can't wait to see what is on the other side.  If the door closes, she can bounce up a good 3' trying to see what she can see and convince you to open that door.   Both girls are good in the car although we do have them riding in their crate for safety.  Speaking of crates, Penny and Cindy currently sleep together in a medium size crate. They keep it very clean at night.  We can't guarantee house training, so our suggestion is a crate in your bedroom for the first 30 days, then transition to you bed if you want.  We think they would enjoy night time snuggles very much once they know your routine. Penny and Cindy also are very obviously trained to pee pads.  We use washable ones here and if the door is not open fast enough, they are sprinting for the nearest pee pad to do business especially first thing.  I know some people do not like pee pads in the house but these two have obviously used one their entire lives.  It means you have to be careful with having throw rugs because they look like pee pads to a dog.  To us, it's a blessing to have a dog trained to pads.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  Very friendly and if your in a chair, you'll very soon have two bundles of poodle in your lap.  Make room - they will both be up there.   Other tips and tidbits: Penny is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate her birthday 09/23/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Cindy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 11/12/25 Cindy had oral surgery to remove 2 teeth. She also had a professional ear cleaning. Our veterinarian noted that Cindy has Grade 1 bilateral MPL. Surgery is not recommended at this time. If she needs orthopedic surgery in the future, this will be the responsibility of her new owner. Weight: 10 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $825 for Penny and Cindy together - they are a team and we will not split them up.  Don't ask.  It's not happening.   Fence needed? Slightly smaller and with a bum knee, she is not as physically active as her sister - but that is not by much.  She can run and play with no issues at all, we just find that she lets Penny take the lead and both of them are happy that way.  Cindy does not bounce at the door like Penny does. She waits for Penny to convince you to open the door, then merrily saunters in looking for love and affection.   Both girls are good in the car although we do have them riding in their crate for safety.  Speaking of crates, Penny and Cindy currently sleep together in a medium size crate. We will not guarantee complete non shedding.  They do not shed here.  Their beds are always clean and their hair is growing at a normal poodle rate but we can not guarantee you they are 100% hypoallergenic.  They did not come with papers. No reason given but most likely she had more males than needed Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None medically - lots socially (see below) Weight: 21 lbs est Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes - without exception.  Simba is a fight risk especially for his first few months in a new home.  A physically fenced and secure fence is necessary while he learns to love you like he loves his foster mom now.  Once you've earned that trust, he will never leave your side.   What kind of home would be best for me? Simba's perfect home will be a single person, probably a single woman, who is looking for an active, strong and opinionated little boy who wants to hand her his heart and become her prince and her best friend.  Simba adores his foster mom and only slightly tolerates the rest of the humans in his life.  We think he will transfer that care and affection to the right person, but it's got to be just the right person.   Simba needs someone who understands dogs raised without proper socialization or exposure to the world.  Much is still new to Simba.  He needs patience and gentle guidance.  I do not believe Simba will ever be "normal" but he can be someone's companion, and he continues to become better in many ways than the dog we received last year.  I think, especially with a lot of one-on-one attention, he will continue to make progress.  It will not be easy but for the right person, it will be fun and satisfying.  If you enjoy changing and shaping dog behavior and watching positive changes in a dog due to your hard work and dedication, it will be an amazing process.  Simba is wicked smart.  He wants to learn.   Simba adores other dogs, especially large dogs.  His current besties are two standard poodles and a cavapoo.  They run, romp, dash about and in general have the very best time running the back trails here at the poodle farm.  He needs at least one other playful dog in his life, and preferably a large one.  If it is a smaller one, better be a sturdy one who can keep up with him. Simba is all athlete - strong, muscled and powerful.  He is dynamite (personality and physical strength) in a neat, compact body.   What is my personality like?  Simba is a quirky little guy with many facets to his personality.  To foster mom, he is a velcro dog, looking for her everywhere.  Wherever she is, Simba is.  To foster dad he's a pain in the neck with his constant barking and resource guarding the upstairs because upstairs is his safe spot.  To the caregivers, when foster mom brings him to her office, he is bipolar.  Some days he's all over them, happy as can be.  The next day, he is resource guarding against everyone in the place.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  If we are in foster mom's office, he will be relaxed on the opposite side of the gate from you. He will look at you curiously and if his foster siblings approach you for a treat, he may go with them. If you were to come into his foster home and he was upstairs, he would stand at the top and bark and bark and warn you off.  He does not want strangers in his safe space.   Other tips and tidbits: 1/23/2023 is Simba's exact birthdate.   If you've gotten this far down, good for you.  I am sure a lot of people stopped early on because we've tried to make it very, very obvious that Simba is beautiful, but he is a project and a handful.  Simba is also on our SOS sponsorship scroller because we understand that finding a home for him is going to be very, very difficult.  It's not fair to Simba not to try - so here we are. Simba was adopted once and returned.  The adopter owns his father, who is a far different personality than Simba, more laid back and gentle.  It lasted a few weeks but ultimately, we determined Simba needed an owner who had a gentley firm hand and what he was getting was spoiled and pampered. Simba was making the other dogs in the home, including dear old Dad, far too nervous to leave him there.  Simba is a LOT of dog.   House trained? He is getting constant reminders, but he was intact for a very long time.  It's going to be a tough haul to completely house train him.  He looks great in a belly band.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. Zoe is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Zoe is a poodle and bichon Frise mix according to the owner and she looks it.  We do NOT think she will shed but can never guarantee hypoallergenic. Yes, she does the bichon "wave."  It's adorable. Zoe does submissive wet when excited Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: 10 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? It is rare for us to write up a dog after just a day, but we have a good bit of info about Zoe from the previous owner and feel comfortable it is in Zoe's best interest to find her new and hopefully Furever sooner rather than later. We will edit as we learn more about her. Zoe wants stability more than anything else. She's had 3 homes (breeder, first owner and then the family member who could not keep her) and is now in #4 (foster) in just 20 months and it shows. She is sweet and tries hard to become your BFF upon first meet but right now, she can only pray this will be forever. So far, nothing has been. She had a person all her own, it was a good life, and she wants that again.   We do not think Zoe would be good for someone who works outside the home.  We're looking for a work from home or stay at home person. Someone who wants Zoe to be their constant companion. She just wants to crawl into your lap.   Zoe could be an only dog or a companion dog. She does not interact much with the other dogs here so far, but we think that will change with time. She is young and while right now, she acts like an old soul she has had a lot of changes. Give her time. What is my personality like? Zoe was purchased to be a companion to a family member who went into hospice. The family member who helped find Zoe took her in but realized she is not capable to care for the sweet little girl and sought better for her. Her lifestyle is not conducive to a small dog Per her previous owner Zoe is a "very sweet loving dog, she gets along with all dogs, cats and children She is crate trained, house trained and follows basic commands."  We are getting to know her, and all these things seem to be true so far.    Zoe submissive pees when she meets new people. This is per the previous owner and we saw it on her first day here and are seeing it now.  The previous owner mentioned it to her vet and her vet felt it was behavior as it is very common in dog.  If it continues out of hand, we will have her assessed by our vet but for now we do think it's behavior.  Please note - she does not do this when she meets new dogs which is interesting.  I think there is a more confident personality in there than we are seeing so far. She needs her own home to bring that out and she needs routine and stability.  Submissive peeing can be reshaped.  It takes routine, consistency and loving structure.  Submissive Urination in Dogs: What Is It and Can You Stop It? – Top Dog Tips How do I act when I first meet new people? Zoe is timid a bit but warms up very quickly. She is not, so far, a social butterfly.   Other tips and tidbits: Zoe's actual birthdate is 03/22/24.   Zoe is a beautiful deep cream with an apricot streak down her back.  One of the photos makes her look a darker caramel than she really is.  She also has eye stains.  We're going to work on getting those better managed.  It may take simply a face cleaning each day or it may take some diet tweaks. December 5, 2025, 4:59 pm

We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 11/21/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Adele was found as a stray in NC and landed at a shelter. Foster location: Foster Home in Raleigh. NC Special Needs? Adele is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 12/1/25 she was treated for ear mites. Adele was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on her. Our best guess is that she is a poodle mix. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Weight: 9.30 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? Yes - Adele LOVES to run zoomies and needs a physically fenced yard. What kind of home would be best for me? Adele is a young, active dog that is looking for an active family. She has a few very specific requirements in her forever home. First, Adele requires another young, active dog in the home. She loves to run and play with a canine sibling and is the happiest and most confident version of herself with another dog. Second, Adele is a sleep in the bed sort of princess. Her foster family requires a home where dogs have a history of sleeping snuggled against their humans at night. Finally, Adele is looking for a home that will offer her patience as she adjusts. She is a wonderful girl but can be timid at first. Her forever home will understand this and help her continue to build confidence.  What is my personality like? Adèle is a marvelous little poodle. How this gorgeous girl ended up a stray is a mystery - she has clearly been loved. When she is comfortable, her happy personality shines through. Adele is beautiful, fun, and snuggly. She loves to run zoomies around the yard with other dogs in her foster home. She loves toys, the squeakier the better! She is a gentle soul who needs quiet guidance. She has learned about treats, so feel free to bribe her trust. It took one day for her to sleep in bed with her foster family. And in bed with you is where she wants to be at bedtime. Adèle is the total package – she is wicked smart, funny, athletic, and empathetic. She’d make a great Obedience dog, Reading dog, or Agility dog. Her foster family hopes that her forever family takes her to classes and keeps her learning as she deserves to use that brain of hers. Whoever Adèle chooses to be her Forever Family will be so very lucky! How do I act when I first meet new people? Adèle is timid at first but warms up quickly if you let her come to you.  Other tips and tidbits: Adele was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition, she is estimated at 1 year old. We celebrate her birthday 11/21/2024.
