Born with a deformity in his front left leg, Patrick has spent his entire life proving that different doesn't mean limited. He runs, plays, explores, and keeps up with his canine friends without letting his disability slow him down. It's simply the way he was born—and to Patrick, it's no big deal. Patrick is a handsome 3-year-old Poodle with a gentle heart and a quiet spirit. He absolutely loves other dogs and lights up when he has a canine friend to play with or nap beside. Whether he's exploring the yard, enjoying the fresh air, or relaxing after a fun play session, Patrick finds joy in the simple things. Like many puppy mill survivors, Patrick is still learning that people can be trusted. While he may be shy at first, beneath that timid exterior is a sweet boy just waiting for someone to show him that the world can be a safe and loving place. With patience, kindness, and a little time, Patrick's personality continues to shine a little brighter every day. His front leg has never caused him pain, and while he occasionally uses it for balance when standing, he has adapted beautifully. Patrick doesn't see himself as different—and neither should you. His disability has never kept him from enjoying life, playing with his dog friends, or doing all the things dogs love to do. Patrick approaches house training the same way he approaches everything else—with determination. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, as well as flea prevention. He has also had a dental cleaning. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Meet Colt! This adorable 16-pound Miniature Poodle may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a little time to warm up and his silly, playful personality comes shining through! Once he’s comfortable, Colt is a bundle of excitement who loves to have fun and show off his sweet side. Colt is headed to the groomer for a little makeover, and we can’t wait to see this handsome boy all cleaned up!

Meet Pepper! Pepper is a shy, 4.5 year old Bernedoodle who is bonded to her friend Cheddar. These two will need to find their forever home together. Pepper came from a difficult past life and is trying to learn that the world is safe and humans can be kind. She arrived very shut down and scared. Pepper is in a foster home now and is slowly learning how to be a dog. She has learned how to take treats from your hand- as long as she is sitting in the safety of her crate. She loves to follow Cheddar outside to the backyard and run around with her. She will then follow Cheddar back inside. Sometimes Pepper actually takes the lead and Cheddar will follow her back inside. They love to run and chase each other! Pepper does not know what to do with a toy, but often fills her crate with them. She also is venturing out of her crate into other rooms more and more. Pepper will need a patient adopter who is willing to give her time to decompress, build trust and come out of her shell at her own pace. While she may be timid now, we believe she has so much potential. She has already made great strides and shown us that she wants affection and wants to feel loved. With time, patience and love, Pepper and Cheddar could truly blossom into wonderful companions!

Bella is a sweet old soul who is coming out of her shell. She’s an independent lady, who wants to be nearby, but appreciates her own space. She’s smart, treat motivated, and already knows her manners. Bella is crate trained, house broken, walks well on a leash and knows sit and shake. She’s likely smarter than all of us. She’s also a nervous Nelly and needs a bit of time meeting new people. Due to being nervous, she likely needs a home with no children. She seems a little too interested in cats when coming across them in the wild. - Bella's Foster

Meet Cheddar! Cheddar is a sweet, approximately 4 year old Bernedoodle who is bonded to her friend Pepper. These two will need to find their forever home together. Cheddar shares a similar background as Pepper, but trusting in a human comes easier for her. Cheddar is the more adventurous of the two. She is usually the first to run outside and would stay outside forever if you would let her! Running around, rolling in the grass and chasing her buddy are her favorite activities. Cheddar’s tail never stops wagging and she will come up to you once she feels she can trust you. She will then lean in to you be petted. She loves treats and will take them gently from your hand. Everyday, she gets braver and explores more of her surroundings. With a loving home and a family that will let them explore and trust at their own pace, both Cheddar and Pepper will make wonderful companions!

Meet Brook! Brook is a 4-year-old, 44-pound doodle mix with a sweet personality and plenty of love to give. She came to us badly matted and needed a big haircut, so she's currently sporting a shorter, fresh look while her beautiful, bouncy curls grow back. Brook has really come out of her shell and is now a social sweetheart who is happy to accept attention from just about anyone! She's friendly, affectionate, and loves being around people. She's even become a little confidence booster for one of our more nervous dogs, helping him feel comfortable enough to come outside. Brook is already spayed, up to date on her care, and ready to find a home where she can keep being her happy, loving self.
