Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617**Due to Gingerbread needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: TBDCould she do well with kids? Yes, with children around 10 years old on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Gingerbread is cautious and requires time to build trust before revealing her softer side. Once trust was established, she craved attention but remained careful. She managed well with husbandry handling but struggled with sudden sounds and everyday objects, often seeking support.Gingerbread walked well on a leash, was attentive indoors, but showed little interest in food. She understood the cue `sit,` responded well to redirection, and had reasonable recall. While hesitant with toys and play, she didn`t avoid them. Although she preferred my company over meeting new people, she displayed a suitable level of curiosity when encountering a new dog, choosing to engage with people when the dog`s interest wasn`t reciprocated.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Adam Wiggleton!Santa didn't bring me a home for Christmas - but I'm hoping for my very own home in the New Year. Breed? Your guess is as good as ours — let’s just call him a “Certified Scruff Mix.” At about two years old, this handsome fellow is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to wiggle right into your heart. Adam was found starving as a stray (we suspect he was abandoned), but he hasn’t let his past dim his spirit. He’s now thriving — full of joy, personality, and just the right amount of mischief.  If his demeanor doesn't suck you right in--his soulful eyes certainly will. He’s a total social butterfly: adores kids, adults, and every dog he’s met. He currently shares his home with two canine buddies and we are looking for a home for him with another friendly companion as he loves, loves, loves to play.  Adam is an outdoorsy guy who loves hiking, zooming around with friends, and attending local baseball games with his foster mom — he’s practically the team’s unofficial mascot! &#226&#154&#190 His only “flaw”? He’s a professional countersurfer. We blame his rough start in life… but he’s quick, clever, and very proud of his title. Adam is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention and is being lovingly fostered in the Selinsgrove area. If you’re looking for a loyal, funny, adventure-loving companion (with a PhD in snack detection), Adam Wiggleton is your guy! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. UPDATE:  Crystal had her specialized heart surgery on December 2, 2025, and she has recovered well.  She is now waiting for her forever home.Help Needed for Crystal Belle Crystal Belle is a special miniature poodle who recently came into our care. At just one and a half years old, she was relinquished from a puppy mill due to a heart murmur. After a thorough evaluation by our local veterinarian, Crystal was diagnosed with a grade 6 heart murmur and subsequently referred to a veterinary cardiac specialist. Following several specialist consultations and numerous tests, Crystal is now scheduled for Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) Corrective Surgery. Her appointment is set for December 2, 2025, at a veterinary specialty clinic in New York. The combined cost of the multiple vet visits, diagnostic tests, and the surgery with specialists is expected to be more than $5,500. The encouraging news is that with this surgery, Crystal has a 98% chance of enjoying a long and healthy life. Her foster mom has shared that Crystal is a wonderful dog, and we believe she deserves this opportunity for a normal, happy future. To help fund Crystal's surgery, we gratefully accept donations via the donate button on our website at haventohome.org. Checks can be mailed to Haven to Home, PO Box 851, Berwick, PA 18603.  UPDATE:  Crystal came through PDA Surgery on December 2 and is now in her foster home recovering.  She is expected to have a full recovery and a long -- quality life.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.
