Story
Rocky is a 7-year-old Schnauzer mix who lost everything when his owner passed away. With no plan in place, he ended up in a shelter—cold, confused, and waiting for someone who never came. They had no room inside, so this gentle boy was kept in an outdoor pen until Pet Profile Rescue stepped in.Rocky is incredibly sweet, mellow, and loving. He enjoys lounging around the house, but one of his favorite things is going for walks! He loves exploring the neighborhood, sniffing everything along the way, and, true to his Schnauzer roots, enthusiastically letting everyone know if he spots a squirrel. He especially loves to cuddle with the women in his foster home and is happiest curled up next to his favorite person.Rocky has IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), which causes a compression in his back. It doesn't currently require treatment, but he does best with regular walks and avoiding overly strenuous activity. Because of his IVDD, he may occasionally have an accident, so he'll do best with an adopter who understands that these minor mishaps are simply part of his condition.Rocky recently underwent bladder stone surgery and has recovered beautifully. To help prevent future bladder stones, he'll need to remain on his prescription Hill's c/d diet, which he happily eats.Like many dogs, Rocky can be vocal when he first sees other dogs or cats. Once he's had a chance to get to know them, he settles in well and can become quite friendly. He's also so excited for walks that he may wiggle or fuss a little while his harness is being put on—he just can't wait to get outside! And don't let him fool you if he acts like he can't jump; given the opportunity, he'll happily claim a cozy spot on the couch or bed.Rocky enjoys the company of both women and men, though he tends to bond especially closely with women. He would do well in a home with respectful children ages 4 and older who understand how to be gentle and calm around dogs.Rocky is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and recently had a dental cleaning where nine teeth were removed. He's feeling better than ever and is ready to leave his difficult past behind for a lifetime of love.
