Meet Rebel!
If you're looking for a dog with a scruffy face, a happy heart, and enough personality to keep life entertaining, Rebel just might be your perfect match.
Rebel is a 2-year-old, 22-pound Miniature Schnauzer and Yorkshire Terrier mix (our best guess) who was found wandering the streets of Detroit with an overgrown, severely matted coat. Despite every effort to locate his family, no one ever came for him. Their loss is most certainly someone else's gain because this handsome guy has proven to be an absolute gem.
Rebel is a sweet, social boy who genuinely enjoys meeting new people and believes every stranger is simply a friend he hasn't greeted yet. He has done well with other dogs, recently met a cat without any concerns, and would do well in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with canine companions.
This cheerful fellow is very food motivated, making him eager to learn and easy to reward. He's also discovering just how much fun toys can be and has started embracing his playful side. When he's not exploring or playing, Rebel is more than happy to seek out affection and spend time with his favorite people.
Rebel has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and is crate trained, although he'll gladly voice his opinion when first settling into his crate. In fact, Rebel isn't shy about sharing his excitement and can be quite vocal when something fun is happening. Because of this, he would not be the best fit for an apartment, attached condominium, or other closely connected living environment where nearby neighbors may not appreciate his enthusiastic commentary.
He walks nicely on a leash, though he may pull a bit at the beginning of a walk until his excitement settles. Rebel also handled both grooming appointments and veterinary visits like a gentleman, showing that he's willing to cooperate even when it's not the most exciting part of his day.
Now all Rebel is missing is a family to call his own—a family that will appreciate his goofy personality, reward his enthusiasm, and give him the love and stability he has always deserved. In return, he'll provide years of companionship, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Rebel is ready to leave his stray days behind and start the next chapter of his life with a family that will love him furever.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
