Meet Shadow Jayden, a 5-year-old, 13-pound Schnauzer mix with a complex heart and a story that’s still unfolding. Shadow came to us from another shelter and has been struggling to feel safe and settled in the kennel environment. Shadow is a highly fearful and reactive dog who finds new people and situations overwhelming. He is especially reactive around barriers. Because of this, Shadow will need a very experienced, patient, and dog-savvy adopter or rescue partner who understands how to work with fear-based behaviors. While he’s doing okay with his potty training, he’ll need continued consistency and a calm, structured environment to thrive. Leash training has been challenging due to his reactivity, and he will need slow, positive reinforcement to help him feel more secure. Shadow Jayden isn’t ready for the average home—but with the right person who’s willing to give him time, space, and understanding, we believe there’s potential for him to begin healing. He needs someone who sees beyond his fear and is committed to helping him feel safe in a world that’s been very scary so far.
