Please welcome Lili to Rescue Row!Lili is a 4 year old, 15 lb Miniature Schnauzer/Shih Tzu mix (per her previous owner) who recently joined our rescue. She came to us when a co-worker of one of our fosters reached out for help because her owner had to leave the country to enter assisted living.Her foster mom shares that Lili is a total Velcro dog who wants to stay within a couple of feet of her person at all times. She absolutely loves being in a lap or snuggled right up next to someone. Lili is nervous around children so she will need an adult only home.She does well around other dogs but isn’t interested in playing and can become nervous around overly excited or hyper pups. She’s happiest with calm dogs who respect her space, and she will let them know if they get too close for comfort. Lili would also do just fine as an only dog, as she has been for the past three years.Lili is potty trained, though she may have a small piddle when she gets excited or scared. She can be a little nervous when first approached or picked up but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night, although she would much prefer to be curled up in bed with her person.Lili will need a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, secure, and close to her person. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs. ##2693614##

Story

Stitch is VERY affectionate and in sync with his humans everyday, no matter what. If you’re going to lay around all day then so is he. If you want to go on an hour walk, he’s ready to go too. He is just happy to be with you. He does very well with kids, as long as they don’t antagonize him. 🙂 I have 10 and 11 yr old kids- never a problem. A year ago we got a puppy who is now 75 pounds. She is A LOT and unfortunately, he hates her even though she loves him! He has become increasingly stressed over the past year. He would do so well in a home with no other dogs or cats. Stitch is very smart and obedient, which is important in any pet home. His fave thing to do is fetch a ball. He will do it for as long as you’ll throw it. We are sad for him to go however, we want him to have a happy life where he can get the attention he needs and deserves. Right now he is traumatized daily by a giant rowdy puppy in his face. *I have his Wisdom Panel dna report as well!
