Story
Meet Leonard — Maltese-Yorkie Mix. Leonard is a playful, affectionate 8-month-old neutered Maltese-Yorkie mix who loves people and enjoys being part of family life. He is crate trained, pee-pad trained, and sleeps quietly through most of the night, although he may occasionally need an early-morning potty break. Leonard is an adolescent puppy who is still learning manners, impulse control, and social skills. He enjoys playing with friendly small-breed dogs under 15 lbs and will need a family committed to continuing his force-free training and positive socialization. 🔊 Leonard Has LOTS to Say! Leonard is prone to barking, and at times his barking can be excessive. He is definitely a little guy with a lot to say! His adopters must be prepared to continue working with him on appropriate barking and not expect a completely quiet dog. 🏡 Leonard's REQUIRED Home Leonard's requirements are firm: • Detached single-family home ONLY • NO acreages • NO apartments • NO condos • NO townhouses • NO duplexes • Secure, fully fenced yard required • NO children under 12 — Leonard finds fast movements and loud voices scary • NO cats • NO medium or large-breed dogs in the home or regularly visiting • A friendly small-breed dog under 15 lbs would be considered • Commitment to force-free training 📍 ADOPTION AREA — CITIES LISTED ONLY We adopt ONLY within these approved cities: Beaumont • Devon • Edmonton • Fort Saskatchewan • Leduc • Morinville (case-by-case) • Sherwood Park • Spruce Grove • St. Albert • Stony Plain There are NO surrounding communities included. We DO NOT adopt outside the listed cities, outside Alberta, or outside Canada. If you do not live in one of the approved cities listed above, you will NOT receive a response to your inquiry or application. 💙 Adoption Information Adoption fee: $760 — includes Leonard's veterinary care. All applicants must complete an adoption application, home check, veterinary reference check, and personal reference checks before being considered. Applications must include a detailed bio about yourself, everyone in the household, existing pets, your home, and your yard/fencing. Please request our “About Our Rescue” document. Leonard's full bio is available upon request and on the Heart Prints Dog Rescue Society Facebook page. Leonard is a fun-loving young dog with personality to spare. He needs the right home that understands his age, energy, barking, and continued training needs. 🐾
