Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Wilmington, DE so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Bootsie ! Bootsie is a 9-year-old, 12.5-pound little mixed-breed girl whose biggest priority is simple: her person.  Bootsie is an easygoing, laid-back girl who truly just goes with the flow. She’s happy to be wherever her person is and would love nothing more than to spend her days curled up beside you. She’s a total couch potato, enjoys cuddling, and doesn’t ask for much beyond companionship, love, and a comfortable place to relax. She’s also wonderfully social! Bootsie gets along with dogs, cats, kids, and other animals, and her foster mom says very little bothers her. She’s a quiet girl who rarely barks and is perfectly content to take life at a leisurely pace. Bootsie is still putting the finishing touches on her housebreaking, but she’s very close to having it down. Her foster family takes her outside frequently, and she’s making good progress. She’s mostly good on a leash and can handle a few stairs, but she does have stiffness in her back legs, so a home with minimal stairs would be best for her. Bootsie has also been dealing with allergies, and chicken appears to be a trigger for her, so her foster family is careful to avoid chicken in her food and treats. She’s currently taking medication to help with her back-leg stiffness and receives a probiotic as well. Bootsie doesn’t need a big yard and would be perfectly happy without one. What she really wants is a person who wants a devoted little companion by their side. She’s sweet. She’s chill. She likes everyone. She likes pretty much everything. And most importantly, she wants to be your girl. Could Bootsie be the laid-back little companion you’ve been looking for?

Story
🐾 Meet Onyx – Looking for His Forever Home 🐾It is with mixed emotions we are seeking a new home for our sweet boy. Onyx is a 6-year-old, fun-loving, energetic dog who likes to snuggle and still thinks he's a puppy at times! He loves to play, enjoys attention, and has a big personality that will keep you smiling. We welcomed him into our family during the COVID pandemic after getting him from a breeder in the Lincoln, PA area. During that time, we had plenty of time for training, daily walks, playtime, and giving him all the attention he deserved. As life has changed, so have our schedules. Between busy lifestyles and increased work travel, we've come to the difficult realization that we can no longer give Onyx the time and activity he truly deserves. Our greatest wish is to find him a loving, caring family, preferably one with children, where he can receive the love, playtime, and companionship he thrives on.
