Story
Avril is a beautiful 7–8 week old mix breed puppy with liquid brown eyes and a stunning blonde coat with black highlights. At 10 pounds already, she’s expected to grow into a medium to large adult dog. Avril was found alone at a very young age and will need a patient, dedicated family to help her continue working on bite inhibition, socialization, and potty training. She is very smart, highly food motivated, and eager to learn, making her a great candidate for positive-reinforcement training. She would do best in a home with older children (8+) and plenty of room to burn off puppy energy. Based on her coloring, Avril may be a Black Mouth Cur mix, a breed type known for being energetic and having a higher prey drive. A secure, fenced yard is strongly recommended. With consistency, structure, and love, Avril will grow into your loyal companion! Story
Hi I'm Georgia! At 8 months old and 30 pounds my foster Mom says I'm the perfect size package! I'm a fun loving gal who enjoys playing with toys and bones and playing a nice game of fetch! I currently have several other dogs in my foster home that I get along with well, however I'm still recovering from the scars of my past of not knowing when my next meal was coming so I do need to be fed separately. I would do well with another playful dog in my home to keep me company and help with my confidence. I am working hard on learning new commands and I'm very treat motivated so training me should be fun! I am doing well at learning to live in a house but will still need guidance in my new home to ensure that I'm the best puppy that I can be. I'm being fostered in Rockford, Illinois... If you think that I sound like a good fit for your family I would love to meet you If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Bob is a 5-year-old mountain cur mix with a gentle soul and a big heart—especially when it comes to other dogs. He truly thrives with canine companionship and will do best in a home with at least one resident dog to help him feel confident and complete. Bob’s journey to safety is one that tugs at the heart. He was traveling on a transport van carrying dogs and cats to the safety of an IL rescue during a recent winter storm when the unthinkable happened. The van hit a patch of ice, slid off the road, and was totaled. During the accident, Bob’s crate was tossed and opened. Terrified and disoriented, Bob ran. For days, dedicated volunteers searched for him through snow and bitter cold, refusing to give up hope. Finally, with patience, kindness, and perseverance, they were able to gently coax Bob back into a crate and bring him to safety. Remarkably, all volunteers and animals involved in the accident escaped unharmed—a true testament to both luck and teamwork. Today, Bob is warm, safe, and soaking up love in his foster home. He’s learning that the world can be kind and that good things—like soft beds, full bellies, and friendly dogs—are here to stay. Bob loves other dogs and takes comfort in their presence, making him an ideal companion for a multi-dog household. Bob is now ready for the final chapter of his journey: a forever home where he’ll never have to be scared or alone again. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a resilient spirit and a heart full of gratitude, Bob may be the one you’ve been waiting for   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  .
