Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Personality: Jenny is sweet, loving, and very affectionate once she feels safe and she will be a great choice for someone looking for companionship. She can be shy at first, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she blossoms into a playful, loyal companion. At Mikey & Me, she surprises everyone with her spry, sassy side when playing with younger dogs. Her perfect day? A little playtime followed by cuddling on the couch—she’s a true Velcro dog!  Ideal Home: Jenny will thrive in a calm, consistent, more serene home environment. We’re looking for a person or family that’s willing to work with us on placing Jenny into a home slowly, making sure she’s not afraid. We’ve done this with other timid dogs with tremendous success. Other friendly pets are a bonus, but she’ll do fine with scheduled social time if she’s the only dog. She naturally gravitates toward women but warms up to men very well with time and trust. A home with dog-savvy kids over 12 would be best, as sudden activity might startle her.  Health, Care, & Appearance: • Needs moderate daily exercise (and a little help shedding a few pounds!) • Fully Vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped • A gentle face, soft fuzzy coat, and stunning brindle stripes with merle spots  Location & Adoption Info: Apply to meet Jenny by submitting an adoption application to  happydaysdogandcatrescue.org . Jenny is currently be fostered at Mikey & Me in Chelsea, MI.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Blackbeard! This 11-month-old, 39-pound Mountain Cur mix will captivate you with his winning grin the moment he meets you! When it comes to snuggling, this pup can show you how it's done. He doesn't hesitate to plop himself right in your lap and enjoy all the love you have to give. Blackbeard has an eager optimism about him that you just have to experience for yourself. He's always smiling and can brighten anyone's day. Social and curious, Blackbeard is such a joy to hang with. He loves cruising the yard with his fellow kennel mates. As he is a young man, he will benefit from daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy in his new home. We have no doubt he will provide years of happy memories to the lucky family adopts him. Based on our evaluation, we feel Blackbeard would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he could be the guy for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bubbly Blackbeard.

Story
Scooter is a great dog! We adopted him at 1 month and 26 days old from Jackson animal shelter. He came from a puppy mill in Mississippi the night before we picked him up. He had mange on his ears, paws, tail, but after we brought him home and gave him much needed TLC, you would never be able to tell. he is currently 5 now. He is very playful, listens well unless hes left alone for more then 7 hours at a time with no breaks then he can be very anxious and needy in his behavior. He LOVES outdoors, walks, runs and ball play. He loves to sun bathe and explore and is a HUGE fan of playing in the water! He is very protective of his home and family, but is welcoming to those we welcome in the home. He has been crate trained, but hasnt needed to be crated for years as he is fine in the home out of it. We havent experienced what he would be like living with another dog, but we used to take him to a dog park often. He did very well as long as no sharing of toys, food or water was involved.

Story
THIS IS MARTIN AND HE NEEDS A HOME Martin is the most beautiful golden brindle Mountain Cur Mix who was born around 12/05/22. He weighs in at 60 pounds of amazingness up to date on his vaccines, but his previous owners didn’t use any preventatives so Martin is now being treated for heartworms on slow kill method, which Artemis will continue to thoroughly fund to completion… yes, even after he’s adopted so you won’t have any added cost. So if you’re looking for a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved, Martini is your boy. This handsome baby came to us timid and unsure, but one thing is crystal clear—he absolutely craves human affection. * Soft, sweet, and incredibly gentle * Timid but trusting once he feels safe * A total cuddle-leaner who melts into kindness * Medium energy and easy to handle * Just wants a calm place and a caring human Martin is the kind of dog who quietly touches your heart. He doesn’t demand attention—he hopes for it. He just needs someone patient, loving, and willing to show him the world isn’t so scary. He needs a forever family who sees the gold in this shy, tender boy. If you have a calm home and room in your heart for a gentle companion, Martin is waiting for you. Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
