Story
Meet Jaeger, an almost 4-year-old Mountain Cur mix who is eagerly searching for a loving and understanding forever home. Jaeger's life began as an outside dog, that was surrendered to us with his brother Butterball due to no fault of their own. Their previous family had to move and felt that they wouldn't be happy in their new home. Jaeger has been waiting for a long time in search of his forever family, as he originally came to our shelter in summer of 2020. It's been hard for him here at the shelter, as he's generally pretty distrusting of strangers at first. He's independent by nature, and wasn't socialized very well as a puppy. It does take a little work to win him over, but once you do, he will certainly be your buddy for life! Jaeger's stoic nature may come across as self-reliant, but it should not be mistaken for a lack of loyalty. Once he establishes a connection with his human, he will go above and beyond to show his unwavering devotion. Jaeger will be your steadfast companion through thick and thin, offering you a hard-earned, loving presence every step of the way. In his time with us, Jaeger has graduated the Puppies for Parole program through our partnering correctional center. From his handler we learned Jaeger is very intelligent, easily trained, and highly food motivated. Through his opportunity with P4P, he has been house trained, crate trained, taught basic obedience, and started on home manners! We also learned from his handler that when it comes to favorite pastimes, cuddle sessions take the top spot for Jaeger. He is a true cuddle bug and finds comfort and joy in sharing intimate moments with his loved ones. Providing him with a cozy bed where he can snuggle up with you will undoubtedly be one of his greatest pleasures. So he has certainly come a long way from being someone's forgotten farm dog! Here at the shelter, Jaeger does go out in a playgroup with other dogs, but it should be noted that he is a dominant dog, and takes it upon himself to 'police' his playmates. But if you are looking for a loyal and cuddly companion who will be your steadfast buddy, Jaeger is the perfect match. By providing him with a loving home, you will witness the transformation of a wary dog into a devoted and affectionate family member. Adopt Jaeger today and experience the joy of welcoming this misunderstood guy into your life. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 60.2 Age: 4yrs 7mths 2wks

Story
Say hello to Jorah! We guess him to be a Mountain Cur or Plott Hound mix that is nearly 4 years old, and he is another one of our Forget-Me-Nots. He was abandoned on farmland with his sister, so when the farmer was able to catch them both, they were brought in to us. Both were in pretty rough shape, but with proper care their coats filled in nicely. They were both chosen to attend Puppies for Parole, however on Jorah's 3rd day in the program, he was cornered by one of the correction center's staff members. He was defensive and scared, but unfortunately made contact. So he was rejected from the program. His sister was adopted, and Jorah has been with us ever since. This poor guy suffers from a lot of anxiety. He's slow to trust people- likely from a lack of socialization as a puppy. However, he does like the company of other dogs! He seems more secure when he isn't the only one. In his time with us, Jorah has actually gotten really close with another longtimer- Ray. They go out in play group together and do really well! Jorah was adopted once, but returned in less than a week. They said he was too clingy- that he wouldn't stay in a crate when they left- when that didn't work, they put him in a kennel outside- which he hated even worse. We think that if he had another dog around, he'd feel safer. He really is a sweet guy, and loves attention and affection. He just needs the opportunity to bond. If you are interested in adopting Jorah, please stop for a visit! Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: Black Weight: 59 Age: 5yrs 2mths 2wks

Story
Hi, I'm Rockee! I'm young and full of energy. I love to play and explore. Sometimes, I can be a little shy, but once I get to know you, I'm as sweet as can be. I'm always ready for a game of fetch or a fun adventure. I came here with my buddy Gypsie, and we've been having a blast. But I'm ready for a new chapter. I'm looking for a family who loves to play as much as I do, and who can give me lots of love and cuddles. I promise to bring joy and laughter into your life. Adopt me, and let's start our journey together! ##2036319##

Story
Boomer is 6 years old, 65lbs, up to date on shots, neutered, and good with other dogs, cats, and kids. He suffers from separation anxiety and takes 40mg Fluoxetine daily. I’ve tried everything with him, and I just can’t provide him with what he needs. My schedule leaves him home alone crated too often and he barks nonstop, bothering the neighbors and affecting our home life.
