Story
Butkus is a 1-year-old Plott Hound mix who is ready for adoption and looking for a fresh start with a patient, active family. This boy came from a difficult situation — his home is now condemned, and he had been left outside overnight before escaping the yard. With no safe place to return to, Butkus is now at the shelter ready to begin a new chapter.Butkus is very much still a young dog learning how to channel his big energy. He is strong, playful, and full of enthusiasm, and he doesn’t always realize his size. When he’s out, he can be very excited and jump up for attention in a full-body, “happy to see you” kind of way. He’s still learning manners and will benefit from continued training, structure, and consistency in a home environment. He is very social and extremely interested in other dogs and wants to play, but his excitement can be a lot at first. He’ll do best with guided introductions and a family willing to help him learn appropriate play and settle skills.Butkus is a young dog who missed out on structure and is now ready for someone to help him grow into his best self. He needs: * A patient, committed home* Training, routine, and consistency*Daily exercise and enrichment* Positive outlets for his energyBecause of his size and enthusiasm, a home without small children is recommended.Butkus is ready to bond deeply with someone who understands that he’s still learning. With guidance and love, he’s going to make a loyal, fun, and very devoted companion.

Story
Meet Quinn! Quinn is a 2-year-old Catahoula mix who was found as a stray alongside Trixie. This adventurous, vocal, and playful girl is full of personality and always ready to explore the world around her.Quinn is a confident socializer with other dogs. When she met Boomer, she immediately wanted to say hello and jump into play. She can be a little forward and independent, showing that she prefers playful canine companions, but she’s also happy to hang out with people when the other dogs are done playing.Quinn is a vocal player and loves to talk while she plays and explores. She walks well on a leash when reminded, but if she gets excited or is in adventure mode, she may pull a bit. She does well in playgroup, but she tires out quickly, and the exercise is helping with her weight loss journey. She would do best in a home with older children who understand boundaries, as Quinn is still learning her manners and can be a little rough and overly enthusiastic during playtime, especially when toys are involved. Her ideal family is active, patient, and adventurous, ready to match her energy and curiosity while continuing to work on her leash skills and keeping her active and healthy. With the right home, Quinn will bring excitement, fun, and loyal companionship — she’s ready to make every day an adventure.
