Story
I'm a sweet boy but am having issues with apartment living as I get older. My dad wants to give me a chance to have more space and opportunities for outdoor activities in my golden years. The vet says I still have the health and energy of a puppy. If you need a partner for outdoor adventures without the mischief of a puppy, I could be the one for you.

Story
About five months ago, Zoe came into our lives after being found as a stray on my sister’s doorstep in Kentucky. She was malnourished, homeless, and desperately in need of love. My sisters took her in, got her veterinary care, and helped her regain her strength. We have had ever since. Zoe is an incredibly affectionate, playful, and energetic dog. She loves people, gives endless kisses, enjoys playing tug-of-war, is house-trained, and uses doorbells to let us know when she needs to go outside. She loves being outdoors, running around, and having space to explore. She has done well with children she knows and has never shown aggression toward people. She just takes some time to warm up to others. Our challenge has been that Zoe has shown aggression toward our older dog, Moose. While they get along much of the time, Zoe can become territorial around high value treats. We no longer feel that a multi-dog home is the right environment for her.

Story
This is Trixie she is a beautiful mud that I’ve had since I’ve lived at home with my family. Recently, I have had a big shift in my career life. This will make it to where I will be traveling so much more. This shift will unfortunately make it to where I have to rehome my beautiful pup. This is by far the hardest decision that I’ve ever had to make. She is a 10 year-old mutt, but she does not act like she’s 10. She loves being outside, going for runs going on car rides. She loves cuddles and being wrapped and soft blankets and watching your favorite TV show (ours is supernatural). There is no adoption fee because the payment I need is for her to go to a caring, loving home that knows how to handle dogs with food aggression. Most if not all of any behavior issues I’ve had with her can be avoided so long as human food is keep away from her. She is a good dog. I just need her to go to somebody who will love her as much as I do and will be able to spend more time with her than I can.

Story
My name is Snow and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m still a puppy – I’ll turn 1 at the end of November. I came to my foster home here in Dorchester, IA, after I was found with my mama living under a shed. My mama is a Shiba Inu and a DNA test says my papa was a mix of Husky, Boxer, Pit Bull and Australian Shepherd, so I’ll likely be 35 to 50 lbs fully grown. I inherited a lot of my mama’s Shiba traits. I can be a shy of new people and cautious in new situations at first, but it doesn’t take long for my curiosity and crazy puppy side comes out and I’ll jump right into your lap! I love to play and am quite athletic. I enjoy rough-housing with other dogs. I really want to chase the cats, so I’m probably not a good match for small pets. I’m a good girl in the house and doing very well with potty training, with an occasional piddle accident. My perfect forever home will have a securely fenced yard where I can run and play and another playful dog to help show me the ropes and burn off energy. I’d be a good running buddy too! I like kids, but since I’m still a crazy puppy, little ones are probably not a good match. My forever family should have experience preventing escapes, since like many Shibas, I can be a slippery door-bolter. They should also commit to training so I can grow up to be a well-behaved adult. Sometimes I can be protective about my food and guard it from intruders. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and ready to fill your life with fun! If you live in the Midwest and are interested in me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to learn more and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can tell if we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!
