Story
BASIC INFORMATION
🙃 Describe their temperament: Joe is a sweet, timid, and affectionate 9-month-old puppy. He was very fearful when he arrived but is already opening up quickly. Once comfortable, he seeks affection, loves being petted and carried, and wants to stay close to his people. Joe is undersocialized and considered a flight risk, so caution around open doors, gates, and unsecured areas is important.

🔓 Are they crate trained? Joe keeps his crate clean but still hesitates to go inside.
🚽 Are they potty trained? Joe does well going potty outside on a consistent routine. A secure, fully fenced-in yard is strongly recommended while he builds confidence.
🎓 Known commands (if any): Still working on basic commands.
🔗 How do they do on leash? Joe is learning. He currently practices by dragging a leash, but having someone hold it can still frighten him.
🥩 Favorite snack? Dietary restrictions/allergies? All food is a favorite! 😂
🥎 Favorite toy? Joe enjoys chasing balls and frisbees outside but currently prefers playing with his doggy friends over toys indoors.
👠 Can they differentiate toys from items they aren’t allowed to chew/play with? Joe has not shown any inappropriate chewing.
🩶 Likes: Affection, being carried, following his foster family around, playing with other dogs, and chasing balls and frisbees.
✖️ Dislikes: Fast movements, being approached too quickly, and currently having someone hold his leash.

BEHAVIOR
🐩 Describe how they interact with other dogs? Joe is dog-friendly and enjoys playing with his canine friends. A confident dog sibling could be helpful for him, although he could also do well as an only dog.
🐈⬛ Describe how they interact with cats? Other small animals? Joe is tolerant of cats. He may bark at them curiously but backs off. He has not been tested with other small animals.
🍼 Describe how they interact with kids? Joe would do best in an adult-only home or with calm, dog-savvy teenagers.
👤 Describe how they interact with people? Meeting strangers? Strangers at door? Joe is timid with unfamiliar people and needs time to warm up. Treats definitely help!
🚕 How do they do in car? Joe rides safely crated in the car with no issues.
🧼 How do they do in bath? Not yet attempted in foster care.
💅🏼 How do they do for nails? Not yet attempted in foster care.
🤝🏼 How well do they tolerate general handling? Once comfortable, Joe enjoys being petted, picked up, and carried. Quick approaches can still make him skittish.
🩶 They need more help with…? Socialization, confidence-building, leash walking, and basic commands.

📜 Any known history: Joe was surrendered with his five littermates after their elderly owner was no longer able to care for himself or the dogs. The puppies came into rescue undersocialized with limited exposure to the world outside their previous home.
💌 A note from my foster: Joe is a sweet, lovable boy who just wants to be with his people as much as possible. When he first arrived, he was very fearful and would hide or run away, but in just a few days we’ve already seen such an incredible change. Once he feels safe, he becomes a total lovebug and happily follows his foster family wherever they go. He loves watching the other dogs and copying what they do — including joining in when they bark at someone in the hallway. 😂 Watching Joe come out of his shell has been amazing. He still needs patience and kindness as he continues building confidence, but underneath that initial fear is a very affectionate boy who really just wants to love and be loved. ❤️🐾
