Cotton is a sweet, affectionate boy with the perfect balance of playful energy and cozy cuddle time. He loves being around people and will happily squeeze into the smallest nook next to you on the couch for some quality snuggles. His favorite activities include playing with toys in short, happy bursts, meeting other dogs, and gazing out the window, but he’s just as content taking a nap by your side. On walks, Cotton does great with other dogs and enjoys greeting them, and while he’s curious about people, he can be a little nervous when approached at first. Inside the apartment, new people and unfamiliar noises may make him bark briefly, but he warms up quickly and soon becomes incredibly affectionate — often ending up in someone’s lap. He does especially well with new people in the apartment when he is introduced to them outside and they walk in together. He hasn’t interacted with cats, but shows no interest in birds or pigeons outdoors, and he has walked by children without issue. Cotton is doing great learning commands and is very food-motivated, which makes training easy. He has no issues with baths or being cleaned and loves being held. Overall, Cotton is a truly lovable, gentle soul and an absolute bundle of joy who will make a wonderful companion.

I’m came up from Kentucky with a bag full of all my belonging from my former home including the cute Christmas sweater in my photos. I am still figuring out my place in this big city. I like to go out, even though it has been very cold, to take walks and sniff around. I am learning that dogs pee and poo outside right on the sidewalk!! I love to snuggle up my foster mom and take naps next to her on the couch. I also love to play with my toys and even play fetch and tug! I know how to sit and am learning the word drop. I like treats so those will help me learn. I didn’t pee or poop outside at first. I just did not understand. But last night I did it and got lots of praise and a treat! I did it today too after a few tries. Yay me!

I settled into foster life right away and made myself right at home—especially on the couch… and sometimes the bed when I can sneak it. Once I realized cuddling was allowed, it was game over. I’m a total cuddle bug! I love curling up in my foster mom’s lap and taking long, cozy naps. Being picked up is one of my favorite things, and I soak up all the affection I can get. I’m gentle and easygoing, I let my foster mom brush me and clean my paws after walks with no fuss at all. I’m getting braver every day—on just my third day in the Big Apple, I officially walked around the block! City noises and people can still make me a bit nervous, but when I hear “Max” or “Max, come!” my focus snaps right back. With a little patience and reassurance, I’m happy to keep walking and find my groove, prancing along by your side. Potty training? No problem for this gal! I had one accident when I first arrived, but once I settled into a routine and felt more relaxed, it hasn’t happened since. I love treats and chews, which will make me an absolute dream to train. Even with all my food love, I’m very polite. I don’t beg when my foster mom eats—even if she’s sitting right next to me. I just quietly mind my business (okay, maybe a few polite sniffs for good measure—who can blame me??). I adore soft pets and gentle scratches, and while I’m still a little shy with new people, my playful personality is starting to shine. I’m learning how toys work and figuring out how to play at my own pace.
