Story
Harper is a 4 year old, 8 pound Papillon mix who recently joined us from another shelter and is looking for his forever home! He's a happy little bundle of playfulness, and he'd love to meet you.To get started in the process of meeting this dog, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Polo would be well suited for a single person He is a loving dog and gets along very well with my other dog until i go into the bedroom and he is guarding me. He has never bitten anyone. His main issue is that he is extremely protective of me and barks a lot when people come into the house. I’ve realized that I’m not able to take on the training and management needed to address this behavior, and I’m looking for a home that would be a better fit for him. This is a difficult decision because I care about him, but I also need a peaceful home environment. I want to make sure he goes to a safe, loving home with someone who understands his personality.

Story
DOB: 05/11/2025 Breed: Papillon mixSpayed female 9lbsMicrochipped & fully vaccinatedNegative for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, and on a monthly preventative*Adoption Fee $500*A little bit about me… Pleased to meet you, I’m Mona! At first, I might come off like a calm and gentle girl, but don’t be fooled, once I get comfortable, my puppy energy really comes out! I love zooming around and roughhousing with other little doggie friends whenever I get the chance. I’m a sweet girl, but I’ll be honest...I do have a bit of a stubborn princess streak. I like things my way and I believe I deserve the royal treatment. Since I’m still a puppy, I’m going to need a family that’s ready to keep working on my training. I’m not very polite on the leash, and I’ll need continued guidance with the basics so that I can grow into the best girl possible. I also still have that classic puppy habit of being a little mouthy and nippy, so I would not be best for young children right now. If you’re looking for a fun, spunky little companion, I might be your girl! The highlights…-Very energetic-I can be stubborn -I’m still a puppy-Sweet demeanorKey points to know…-Expect lots of energy and brainpower. Papillons are small but very intelligent and energetic dogs. Daily playtime, walks, and mental stimulation will keep them happy and prevent boredom behaviors like chewing or barking.-At this age, she’s still learning! Consistent, positive reinforcement training will help her grow into a well-mannered adult.-Grooming and skin care matter for white coats. All white dogs show dirt and tear stains more easily. Regular brushing, gentle baths when needed, and keeping the eyes clean will help maintain that beautiful coat. Papillon mixes also benefit from brushing to prevent tangles and keep their fur healthy.
