Story
Hi, I’m Roscoe! I’m a sweet, fun-loving little guy who absolutely adores being close to my person. If there’s a lap nearby, you can bet I’ll find it—best seat in the house! I love toys and have a funny little habit of “borrowing” socks and stashing them on my bed… don’t worry, no socks have been harmed.
I’m potty trained (yep, good boy status!) and love spending time going in and out of the patio door to explore the yard. I just finished my heartworm treatment, so I’m taking it easy with short walks for now—but once I’m cleared, I’ll be ready to go! I do great when left out with my two doggy foster siblings and sleep quietly through the night in my crate (maybe with a tiny snore). If you’ll let me, I’d love to snuggle up in bed with you—but I’m perfectly content in my crate too.
I’m working hard on my manners with my foster mom. Sometimes I just get so excited—especially around mealtime—that I forget myself a little. But I’m learning to sit and wait, and I’m getting better every day! I'm working on putting on some weight, so I definitely get excited about food, but I do well eating and taking treats alongside my foster siblings when I’m guided to be patient.
My foster mom thinks I’ll thrive in a home that offers consistency, love, and lots of attention—a place where I feel safe and cared for. I’m a really good boy with so much love to give. If you’ve got a lap and a little space in your heart, I’d love to meet you!
Roscoe was originally rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He had been adopted last year, but recently came back to us as he was not doing well with the child in the home. Because of this, he would do best in a home with no children under 12. He also played rough with cats, so would be best in a home without any feline friends.
Roscoe had tested positive for Heartworm. Unfortunately, his treatment was delayed and had to be restarted. We have gotten him back on track and he has completed his injections. The remaining heartworm treatment (a retest in 9 months) is covered by the rescue at one of our partner vets.
Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events!
We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently.
Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog.
If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
