Story
Hi, my name is Smoky. I am from Minnesota. From her foster: This girl is interviewing for her BFF (Best Friend Forever). Your lap will never be cold and she promises to shower you with kisses. Smoky is doing well with potty training on a schedule. She plays well with the other young, small, high-energy pup in her foster home and snuggles with the older pup. She hasn't been around cats in her foster home. Smoky has started to play on her own and has the cutest zoomies. Are you ready to welcome love, kisses and snuggling into your daily routine? Smoky is ready!

Story
Are you looking for a playful, loving, and smart companion? Then Alfredo, with his adorable bleps and charming clumsiness, is the dog for you! This sweet boy is a quick learner, mastering "sit" in a flash and performing it even without a treat. He's ready to tackle more training with a family committed to his growth! Alfredo is incredibly affectionate and loves to be held, often pleading innocent with his paws when he thinks he's in trouble. He's a snuggle bug, enjoying cuddly naps and sleeping soundly by your side at night. He gets along famously with a 5-year-old and would thrive in a home with a gentle, playful child. While he’s making great strides with potty training (peeing outside like a champ!), he's still perfecting his indoor manners. He's working on being less mouthy in play and needs continued guidance on polite introductions to other dogs, ideally a confident canine companion who can hold their own. Alfredo is a high-energy dog who will bring so much joy and laughter into your home. He’s a champ at making his own fun with any toy – squeaky, bone, or even a simple fabric strip! If you're an active family ready to embrace training, playtime, and endless snuggles, Alfredo is waiting to steal your heart!

Story
Lola has been settling into foster home wonderfully over the past two weeks. She quickly made herself at home and now enjoys exploring, snuggling with her people, and playing with her foster dog siblings. She currently lives with three other dogs and did great with slow introductions. This sweet girl is affectionate, peppy, and smart. She loves to play with balls and enjoys a good game of chase. Because she likes playful interaction, Lola would likely do well with a dog friend close to her size. At about 18 pounds, a very large or rough playmate may not be the best fit. Lola has adjusted well to a routine, comes when called most of the time, and handles chilly weather like a champ, especially when she gets to wear a cozy sweater! At the end of the day, she’s happiest curled up close for snuggles. With her soft fur and adorable angel ears, Lola is truly a special little dog who will make a wonderful companion.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Wren is a gentle and deeply devoted Cavachon with a tender heart and a quiet, sensitive nature. She forms an incredibly strong bond with her person—so strong that calling her a “velcro dog” hardly does her justice. Wren prefers to stay close to the one she trusts, following them from room to room and seeking comfort simply by being near. For the right person, she will be the ultimate loyal companion. She would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and is happy to include her in daily life. Although Wren is very sweet, she is also timid due to limited exposure to new experiences. Sudden movements, loud noises, or busy environments can make her nervous, and she may retreat to observe from a safe space until she feels comfortable again. Her response to stress is calm rather than chaotic—she prefers to quietly watch from her kennel or a cozy spot nearby. This sweet girl would thrive as the only dog in the home. She prefers not to share her person and can become protective when other dogs approach. In a calm, single-dog household, she will feel far more relaxed and secure. Wren is still learning about many everyday things. She is new to leash walking and currently freezes when the leash is introduced, so patient training will help her build confidence. She also hasn’t yet learned to manage stairs or jump on and off furniture, so her adopter should be comfortable helping her by lifting her when needed. While she isn’t interested in toys, Wren does enjoy chewing on treats like bones, pig ears, or bully sticks. She can also be a bit of a picky eater and prefers fresh or freeze-dried foods rather than dry kibble. Her forever family will need to be prepared for the extra cost of fresh food. Wren currently uses potty pads reliably and is expected to transition to outdoor potty training with time, patience, and encouragement. Because she can be nervous outdoors, a fenced yard may help her feel safer as she learns about the world around her. At her core, Wren is a calm, affectionate, and incredibly loyal little dog who simply wants to love and be loved by her person. In a quiet home with an understanding adopter who can offer patience, reassurance, and lots of closeness, Wren will blossom into a devoted companion whose bond with her human is truly special. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
