Story
I’d like to introduce Bruno, a 12-year-old, 7.2 lb Papillon who is looking for a peaceful, loving home. Bruno is a sweet, laid-back senior who enjoys a calm lifestyle filled with long naps, cozy beds, and quiet companionship. He is well past the puppy stage and thrives in a relaxed environment where he can simply enjoy each day at his own pace. Bruno loves to relax and sleep, making him a wonderful match for someone seeking a low-energy companion. He is happiest lounging nearby and sharing gentle affection. Bruno Gets along with cats Due to having only four teeth, Bruno eats soft foods, which keeps him comfortable and happy at mealtimes. Feeding suggestions include: - Wet or canned dog food - Softened kibble soaked in warm water or low-sodium broth - Soft, senior-friendly foods - Small, easy-to-chew portions Desired adoption Home: - No small children - No large dogs - Quiet, calm household that appreciates senior dogs preferred Bruno is looking for a home where relaxation, love, and peaceful days are always on the schedule. If you or someone you know may be a good match for this gentle senior, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for considering Bruno - Bruno's adoption fee is $350 + MN sales tax. - You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/ - Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged. - Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you. - You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request. - A healthy pet is a happy pet! Hi, my name is Smoky. I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Smoky takes her eye makeup very seriously. She is a complete love bug! She is an expert lap warmer and loves to give kisses. She enjoys snuggling with Sunny and puts up with his wrestling and playing. She is doing well with potty training when taken out on a regular schedule. If you are looking for an adoring cuddler, Smoky is the girl for you

Story
Meet Nilla Bean a 5 year old Papillon and Chihuahua mix, who is a happy story of transformation.  While she still has spicy energy and excitement about life as a dog, she is far from the resource guarding pup she was 2 months ago.  She has learned how to play with toys to amuse herself, and incorporate the zoomies alone or with an agreeable dog to expel excess energy.   She also tolerates timeouts in the crate when she gets overwhelmed.  She loves to explore the fenced in yard and shows no signs of wanting to escape.  She occasionally potties in the house but mostly she does her business outside.  She would benefit from walks or dog park visits (after she has bonded with her human).  She loves snuggles and massages and sleeps happily through the night with her humans.  She settled well in the car the few times she’s been a passenger.  She’s a vigilant pup, noticing every movement or sound, and does bark at new noises or people.  For new people visiting, I have her on leash or in the crate until they are in and settled so she can sniff and check things out without the stress of arrival greetings and movement.  She is more comfortable every week with new experiences.  She responds to calm instructions, such as ‘you’re ok’, or ‘come here’ or ‘no bark’ etc.  She is treat and food motivated and in general is learning to trust people and a loving home.  I’m not sure how she would do with kids or cats, but again if they take it slow, I  think she will do fine.  A playful confident resident dog would be great for her, although I think with enough socialization she would also do well as an only dog.  She’s just waiting and improving her doggy skills for her forever family.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $425.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 9:34 am
