Meet Zeke! Zeke is an adorable 8-month-old pup with a big personality and plenty of puppy energy. He can be shy and cautious when meeting new people, but give him a little time to feel safe, and his sweet side starts to come through. Once he knows and trusts you, he will be your faithful companion!
Zeke absolutely loves other dogs and lights up around canine friends, so he’d be especially happy with a social, playful dog buddy to help show him the ropes and requires a companion dog in the home. He’s active, goofy, curious, and always ready to run, wrestle, explore, and play. He has started to learn the joys of toys and tug-of-war as well!
He does excellent in his kennel, though he can bark for a little bit when he is especially antsy or too tired to realize he is tired. He likes being around other people and dogs when he is sleeping, so a kennel in the bedroom is ideal, if possible. Zeke is also still working on his potty training but is making great progress every day. He already prefers going outside; he is just learning how to signal when he needs to go out.
Zeke really is a good and brave pup. He doesn't have much experience with people or the world yet, but he is doing his best to learn everything and picks up new things quickly. He is learning to go up and down stairs, respond to "leave it" and "outside," appreciate the comfort of snuggly blankets, enjoy being petted, and discover toys and more. He is still shy and easy to startle, but he puts on a brave face and quickly gets over it. Once he fully settles into his forever home and has more experience under his puppy belt, we suspect he will be confident, assured, and living life to the fullest. It’s clear how much he loves being praised, getting treats, and experiencing new and exciting things, which should help the process!
Zeke would do best with a patient family who understands that new humans can be a little intimidating at first and who’s ready for the energy and fun (and chaos!) that come with an 8-month-old puppy. However, this phase won't last forever. You're sure to see him open up and blossom in no time. If you’re looking for a lovable adventure buddy with a soft heart, increasing confidence, and lots of zoomies, Zeke might be your guy.
