Meet Pumpkin! This sweet little lady was surrendered to a shelter with a request for euthanasia, not because she was ready to die, but because her human’s health was failing and there was nowhere else for her to land. Fortunately Pumpkin made her way to us, but she arrived carrying the quiet weight of long-neglected illness. Her eyes are infected and diseased, her mouth ravaged by severe dental disease, her body fighting bacterial cystitis, and now, layered over everything else, a new diagnosis of diabetes. We all know it’s a condition that demands consistency, monitoring, and care at a time when she has had the least of all three. None of this happened overnight. This is what happens slowly, when medical needs outpace resources, and a small senior dog is left to endure more than she ever should. Pumpkin is approximately 12 years old and 5 lbs. About Me Who remembers Madeline, the adorable and precocious 7-year-old who attended Boarding school in France? Genevieve was her spunky, helpful, and loyal dog. Such a fitting name for this gorgeous Papillon mix. Gigi is indeed a very loyal companion! If you are looking for a best friend, you have found your match! She insists on being within a couple of feet of her favorite humans, but is not a lap dog per se. She gets along with her housemates, but clearly would be delighted to be an only dog, too. Gigi is happy to go on short walks and will go out as many times as her best friend is willing to take her. Won’t you give this loveable and gorgeous lady a forever home?
