Story
Hi! My name is Gabe. I am a 4 year old, 21 lb love bug who enjoys running around the yard or snuggling with my people. I'm guessed to be a Corgi/Jack Russell mix but whatever I am, I am 100% adorable. I came into rescue after losing my way and finding myself in an overcrowded shelter. No one came to claim me and the nice shelter people did not understand why! I love anything that involves getting to be with my people or my animal friends. I enjoy cuddling, going on walks, playing with toys, going to training, chewing on bones and just hanging out. I just want to be your buddy! I will follow you around, lay next to you, curl up with you and rollover onto my back when I'm really comfy or welcoming belly rubs. I will snore a little bit, right along with you, when I'm sleeping. I can be a nervous nelly in new situations and when I meet new people but I am working hard with my trainer to build my personal confidence. I prefer slow, calm introductions but once I know you, I will love you unconditionally. I have met several other dogs while with my foster family and have two foster dog siblings and two foster cat siblings! I don't even mind the cats I live with. I will play with them or just go on coexisting, depending on their mood. Big dogs intimidate me sometimes but with proper introductions, I do just fine. I would love a family of my own and would thrive with having a companion, whether human or dog. Someone I can be with, play with, sleep with and go places with. A calmer environment and a little patience is all I need while I get used to my new home. Even kids would be okay with me, as long as they are not overly energetic and allow me to make the first move to figure them out. I am going to make the most loyal and devoted companion for the right family. Gabe is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, microchipped and neutered. He would do best in a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play safely. Adopters must be within close proximity of Cedar Rapids/Marion, IA and willing to continue his prepaid training sessions until completed. Indoor homes only. Story
Tucker is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, born 2022, and he is looking for a new place.  He is a friendly guy and gets along with new people.  He is leash trained and enjoys being active.  He needs a fenced yard with room to run and he would love it if there are no dogs on the other side of the fence to antagonize him.  Tucker has a tendency to herd small children (it's a breed thing!), so he would do better with older kids, ages 6+.  Tucker injured his CCL in January and had surgery to repair it.  He has rehabilitated and is doing well.  It is possible he will need more surgeries in the future.  Tucker would make a great addition to any family! The suggested adoption donation for Tucker is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Louie is in Intelligent, sweet, loving, playful pet who has been part of our family since he was a puppy. Looking for someone to love him as much as we do. Louie is such a dedicated friend and we have not had the much-needed time with him since our two-year-old and one month old children came into our lives. We are not sure how he would behave around cats but he has behaved well with other dogs. We are full-time working parents which leaves him alone every day. We would love to find a happy, caring home for him as soon as possible. We are open to an overnight stay at your home for a trial visit. We are located in West Des Moines, Iowa and hoping for a relocation within 50-100 miles or closer. Please contact us at your first convenience.
