I’ve Been Waiting Long Enough. Is It Finally My Turn?
Hi, I’m Bullet.
Before you keep scrolling, can I ask you for one favor?
Picture coming home after a long day.
There’s a dog waiting at the door, tail wagging like you hung the moon. He’s just happy you’re home. He doesn’t care if work was stressful, if dinner is late, or if the laundry is still in the dryer.
He’s just happy you’re there.
That’s me.
I’m a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix with a soft heart, a fluffy coat that practically begs to be brushed, and so much love to give that I’m honestly not sure how I’ve been waiting this long.
I spent nine months in a California shelter.
Nine months of watching people walk past my kennel.
Nine months of hoping my turn would come.
It never did.
Thankfully, a rescue stepped in and gave me a second chance. Now I’m safe in Illinois, fully vetted, neutered, and finally searching for what I’ve wanted all along—a family.
Not a perfect family.
Just one that’s mine.
I’m about 55 pounds, have nice leash manners, and I’m the perfect mix of adventure buddy and couch companion. Want to go for a walk? Count me in. Want to spend the evening watching movies? I’ll be right beside you.
I absolutely love being brushed. I think every grooming session is a spa day designed specifically for me.
I’m gentle, affectionate, and happiest when I’m with my people. If your kids accidentally drop a few snacks, I’ll gladly volunteer as the clean-up crew.
I’m dog-friendly with the right match, and if you have cats, the rescue can test me.
People always say I’m easy to love.
I just need someone willing to give me the chance to love them back.
At my age, I already know what matters.
It’s not fancy toys.
It’s not endless excitement.
It’s belonging.
It’s hearing someone say, “Come on, Bullet, let’s go home.”
A generous donor was touched by my story and has sponsored part of my adoption fee, so it’s been reduced to $250.
But the greatest gift you could give me isn’t saving money.
It’s giving me a place where I never have to wonder if I’m staying.
I’ve waited long enough. Maybe I’ve been waiting for just for you.
