Story
Onyx is an almost four-year-old Pitbull terrier we've had since he was a puppy. This furry friend is loving, full of energy, and ready to bring joy and laughter to your life. He’s a strong dog that thinks he lives in a small body and is unaware of his size at times. He loves people and he’s good with dogs similar to his size. He’s crate trained and leash trained but he could use some retraining. He loves to play and run outside. He isn’t neutered yet, but he will be soon. He does have allergies and we are still in the process of ruling out whether it’s diet or seasonal. He has a paw condition called pododermatitis., so his paws are a little inflamed and we use wipes or foam daily to treat it (twice a day). It’s a chronic condition so it's something that needs to be managed throughout his life. Otherwise, he has all his shots and he's a healthy size. If you're seeking a loyal companion who's always up for an adventure, Onyx is the one for you.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- ROCKY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.Here's what the humans have to say about me: ADOPT OR FOSTER!Are you loyal, driven, motivated, optimistic, and like to have a good time? So is Rocky! He may be your soulmate! Rocky was un-familied twice in his 7-year life. He craves a companion who won’t do that to him again. He needs to be someone’s sidekick. He loves people and has never met a stranger. He enjoys a car ride, and a nice long walk. His fave snack seems to be beef jerky, but he’s happy to try your other foods, too. He’s crate-trained and potty-trained and lives well in a home.He doesn’t mind dogs in public and is not reactive, but can’t live with other dogs as he get a bit guardy around them and starts fights. He also has high prey drive and can’t live with small animals or cats. He has met my horse and goats and has been fine, so could likely live around large animals after supervised introductions.Apply at https://highlandcountyhumanesociety.orgIncluded in Adoption: All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated - Da2pp, Bordetella and Rabies, tested for HW/Lyme, dewormed and started on HW/Wormer monthly prevention (Interceptor Plus), and treated for flea/tick control (Advantix). This program supports All New Pet Parents and offers Free resources, more than $650 in savings and 24/7 support.Apply online:https://www.highlandcountyhumanesociety.org/available-animals/To contact us, please send an email or FB message to:Email: info@highlandcountyhumanesociety.orgWebsite: www.highlandcountyhumanesociety.orgFaceBook: www.facebook.com/HighlandHumaneHCHS is 100% foster and volunteer based (no staff, no employees). Story
Allow me to introduce Miss Cassie, a young and infinitely energetic Husky. She is the true embodiment of the breed as her desire to explore and outsmart are a top priority. Cassie is the ultimate Houdini and can escape even the tallest of fences therefore she can only be outside if on a leash. Cassie is as sweet as sugar when around staff and canine volunteers. She was a bit timid after she was surrendered, but has opened up like a spring flower. Cassie has not been negative towards other dogs, however with the nature of Huskies it’s best remain cautious. She is sure to never disappoint in the realm of love as her tail never stops waging giving us all a smile. Please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Complete an adoption application online to be pre-approved for adoption. If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. As always, if you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption. Adoption fees: 6m and younger $250, 7m-5y $200, 6y-10y $150, 11y and older $100. Watch for adoption specials!!
