Story
Tank is a great dog. He loves being loved. He’s a mild tempered dog. He likes to play as well. He’s great around kids and has been around kids from newborn on up. He’s friendly around cats. He also is very friendly around other dogs as well. Tank is scared of thunderstorms and fireworks and would rather be in a crate during these times. Tank sleeps in a crate with the door open. It’s just a safe place for him. He thinks he’s a little dog. Tank is house trained and is used to being in the house for a 8 hour work shift. He really is a great dog but I have some medical conditions and I’m no longer able to keep him. If that wasn’t the case he would still be with me.

Story
Milo is a mix pitbull husky breed he is 2 years old born in march 1 2023. He is a very loving dog loves to play and very friendly with other humans and pets. He does have a condition of severe seperation anxiety and tends to freak out when he’s alone. Releasing him to another family is going to be really hard but due to busy house work schedule he’s had to stay alone and dealing with his anxiety is very difficult. We’ve tried numerous solutions to help him and become more relaxed and understanding that it’s okay to be alone but unsure of his mindset or training it has been unsuccessful and we can no longer maintain to his care. We hope his next family can give him a more free life and that his anxiety can disappear and love the next family. Thank you

Story
DESCRIPTION: Raina was given to her family by a friend who felt she would be a good match for their household. Although she was clearly loved by her family, Raina struggled in a city environment. As a result, her family made the difficult decision to surrender Raina to MAGSR so that she could find the family and living environment that would help her develop into the incredible girl they knew she could be. Raina is a friendly but driven girl. As is typical of most shepherds, Raina is intelligent, active, and alert. In order to meet with success, Raina will need both her body and mind exercised daily. She is not a couch potato and will do best with an active family. Although Raina is working on her interactions with other dogs, she would prefer a family where she can be the only dog so that she can be the center of attention. Raina is housebroken and crate trained. She also knows a few commands. However, as is true of all shepherds, Raina will need to attend training in order to develop into the amazing shepherd we know she is destined to be. Training will not only help Raina develop into an amazing dog, but it will also help her bond with her new family. If this active lady sounds like a good match for your household, ask to meet her today.  October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm

Story
DESCRIPTION: Not every dog gets to spend their life curled up on a couch, showered with affection, and surrounded by family. Ivy’s story is a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be — even when life hasn't always been as kind as you may hope. Though Ivy has known human kindness, she has never known the comfort of a true home until now. She came to MAGSR having never lived in a home, yet her soulful eyes and calm presence speak of a dog who still believes in love. Physically, Ivy carries the weight of a life spent giving more than she received. Her body shows signs of many litters, untreated medical conditions, and severe arthritis. When her pain became too much to ignore, a decision was made to give Ivy the care she so desperately needed — and she joined the MAGSR family. One of our amazing senior foster families immediately stepped up, giving Ivy her very first taste of home: a comfortable household, soft beds, quiet spaces, and unconditional love. Despite her past, Ivy is gentle, affectionate, and slowly learning the joys of being a beloved companion. She enjoys short walks, tasty treats, and has recently discovered the magic of dog beds. But Ivy's journey is far from over. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with: Severe arthritis in her front left leg, causing her significant pain and lameness A skin infection requiring treatment before other procedures could take place Ulcerated tumors and masses on her chest and belly Underweight frame, which needed to be addressed before surgery could commence This week, Ivy bravely underwent a complicated hysterectomy, had several masses removed, and began treatment to address her discomfort. Radiographs of her joins and chest were taken to determine the extent of her needs. Consultations with specialists also took place. At this time biopsy results are pending, and more invasive care may be needed. Despite everything, Ivy remains calm, loving, and endlessly patient — a true testament to her spirit. She is wearing her surgical pajamas like a champ, is adjusting to the cone and pro collar, and has been very patient when going through daily clean up and care. Ivy isn’t available for adoption just yet, but she will be — once she’s strong, healthy, and ready for the next chapter of her life. Ivy’s care is ongoing and expensive. If you’re touched by her story, please consider making a donation toward her medical expenses. Every dollar helps us continue to care for dogs like Ivy — the ones who’ve waited too long for a family of their own and are finally getting their chance. Donations can be made at magsr.org. Thank you in advance for joining us in believing in second chances. Ivy is an exceptional girl who we know is worth every dime.  November 11, 2025, 8:35 am

Story
DESCRIPTION: Handsome little Kaiser, affectionately known as Kai, was born in a tough area. Although it’s clear he wasn’t always treated kindly, somewhere along his journey, Kai must have met someone who showed him love — and that kindness has stayed with him. Picked up as a stray, Kai made his way to a very small shelter with limited resources. While the dedicated staff do everything they can to make sure each dog feels loved, they simply don’t have many options to help dogs move forward. Fortunately, a local rescue group works tirelessly to network the dogs in this area, hoping to find as many of them a safe option as possible. With so many rescues sitting at or over capacity, Kai’s chances were uncertain. But when MAGSR learned about his situation, our team decided we would find a way to make things work — and brought Kai safely into the MAGSR family. Kai is curious, cautious, and a huge cuddle bug. This “pint-sized” shepherd is the perfect buddy for daily walks and playtime. In many ways, he’s a pocket shepherd — full of personality and heart in a smaller package. It’s clear that Kai hasn’t always been treated well, so he needs a little time to warm up to new people and situations. However, with a few tasty treats and some sweet “puppy talk,” he quickly comes around. Like all young dogs, Kai will benefit from plenty of opportunities to socialize with new dogs, people, and environments. A social dog is a stable dog, and these experiences will help him grow into a confident, well-rounded companion. Training will also go a long way in helping Kai strengthen his bond with his forever family while developing good manners and self-assurance. Kai is a delightful little guy — happy to be your shadow, eager for cuddles, and so ready to find a forever home of his very own. Could that be with you? November 11, 2025, 8:35 am
