Story
I adopted my dog from a shelter in Flushing, Queens during a time I was looking for companionship. When I first got him, he was a bit shy and socially reserved, likely due to his prior environment and medication. Over time, after gradually weaning him off and giving him consistency, his true personality came out. He has become a very affectionate, playful, and funny dog with a lot of character. He enjoys attention and has a silly, expressive way of moving that makes him easy to love. He is still young and learning, so he needs continued structure and training. He can be a little mouthy during play (play-biting), but he has never shown aggression or bitten anyone. He is still working on basic manners like not picking things up off the floor, so he does best with patience and consistency. I will be deploying to the military and I’m looking to stay in his life. My priority is finding him a stable, responsible, and loving long-term home where he can thrive.

Story
Meet Stormy! This beautiful girl came to us from a local rescue and is ready to find her forever home. At around 4–6 years old, Stormy is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed. She’s a total love bug who can’t get enough affection and enjoys spending time with her people. Stormy walks nicely on a leash and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend. Stormy has previously lived with other dogs, but a meet-and-greet is required to ensure a good match. She has not yet been cat-tested. If you’re interested in giving Stormy the loving home she deserves, please stop by during our operational hours or submit an application online at almosthomeli.org.

Story
Meet Doo! This adorable 7-month-old girl is eager and ready to find her forever home. Doo came to us alongside her two sisters, Stinky and Dinky, and has shown to do well with other dogs and children of all ages. Like any young puppy, Doo is full of energy and would thrive with an active family ready to keep up with her playful spirit. Because she came from a situation where she was not properly cared for, she will need continued work with housebreaking, basic obedience, and learning the routines of home life. With patience, consistency, and love, Doo has all the potential to grow into an amazing companion. If you’re interested in adopting this sweet girl, please stop by during our operational hours or submit an application through our website! (please note that Doo is not yet spayed and I'll NOT be placed in her adoptive home prior to her spay date)
