Bought him from a store in Norwalk and ever since then I’ve had problems with my family not liking him. They all get annoyed by his presence and when he does things like barking or would have accidents here and there it would turn into a huge thing. But along with that I’m also not able to properly tend to his needs and it was a huge miscalculation on my part because I thought my family would help but they’re not and refuse to. I work early and come back late and I’m not able to walk him out give him as much attention as I should be, not even close and I just want a better home for him. As long as I’m guaranteed a home that will take care of his needs I’ll be content and okay.

You won't find a more handsome, intelligent or silly boy than Sidney. He is about 3.5 years old and weighs 84 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show some barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he shows absolutely no issues. Auggie first came to the shelter in June 2022, under-socialized, and deeply unsure of the world around him. He was scared, overwhelmed, and clearly hadn’t had the chance to know what it means to feel safe. We gave him time with quiet walks and gentle introductions at his own pace. Slowly, Auggie began to trust, showing glimpses of the sweet, sensitive dog we knew he could be. He was adopted not long after, and for a time, we hoped his story had found its happy ending. But in June 2023, Auggie was returned. And while he came back with more confidence than before, he also came back a little more guarded, as if unsure whether he could trust again. Can you blame him? These days, Auggie is letting personality shine through. He’s not the same shut-down pup we first met but he still needs a patient, understanding home where he can continue to build confidence. Auggie’s ideal family will offer calm, structure and consistency. He’ll thrive with someone who will guide him gently through new experiences and continue training to help him feel secure, especially around resource guarding.
