Story
Meet Summer💛🌞! She is a young 1 yr old Husky x with a lot of potential! (tag #835)She is looking for an active owner willing to go on lots of walks and/or hikes and to also spend time working on basic obedience training with her. She is very sweet with people and is okay passing other dogs on walks but at this time would do best as the only pet in the home. Husky experience is a plus & a fully fenced yard is a must! If you're a lover of Huskies and think Summer may be the one for you, contact us via Email @ animalshelter@islipny.gov

Story
Saphira and Shadowfax are a bonded sibline pair. Saphira is a spayed female and Shadowfax a neutered male. We are looking for someone with ample property and time to dedicate to the pair. They are the most loveable pair you could ever find but are the typical active and inquisitive husky/malamute breed. They are being rehomed due to me suddenly needing to start chemo and not having the energy to properly play with them. I am in no rush to rehome so I will be looking for the perfect family. They have worked with a trainer and I can provide the list of commands they are used to. They were born in February 2022 and are half husky half malamute. They were bred by snow wooly husky in Vermont. I cannot express how amazing these two are. They get along with every dog they meet and they are absolutely amazing with our two young toddlers. It breaks our hearts to have to do this but as dog parents we want the best for them and that means someone able to physically give them lots of activity.

Story
Lilly (Husky) and Buddha (Pittie) are a bonded pair.  They are approx. 9 years old and had a Dad who loved them, and tried his best to take good care of them, but one day he was gone, and they were found alone, together in the apartment comforting each other.  They were brought to the City Shelter, and were separated but cried for each other constantly.  They were brought into the office so they could be together again.  They are wonderful with people, we do not know about other dogs, and children we think at this stage of their lives, and all they have been through, might just be a bit much for them.  They deserve a home where they can be loved for themselves, not have to share the love and attention, a home where they can live out their lives together for the time they have.  They are being vetted at this time, and looking for their new forever home.... they truly are a very special couple. Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##1596749##

Story
We are thrilled you have taken the time to look at Sophie who is a fabulous dog!  She has so much to offer as a companion pet.  Three year old Sofie does well on a leash, knows sit and will crate up for you. We believe she was housebroken before coming into rescue which is always a bonus!  She likes to play with boy dogs but really doesn’t love female dogs which is pretty normal.  She weighs in at around 65 pounds which means there is a whole lot of dog to love for sure!  Sophie loves to go on car rides and adventures which makes her super fun! Or she is happy to chill inside with her people.  True to the large breed double coated breeds, it does take her awhile to cuddle with unfamiliar humans but once you are accepted, game on!  We think you will love this large fluff of love!  Sofie loves her car rides and loves to be inside with her people. If you are truly interested in adopting a dog from our rescue, it is best to request an adoption application at STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET. If you respond via Petfinder, it will slow the process down. Sofie is being fostered in Middle TN but we do have transport available to the NE. We have foster homes in several areas of the country.

Story
Jasper is looking for his foster or foster-to-adopt family. He needs to find that family by May 27! Jasper is a great dog! He loves people. He loves other dogs. He's fine with children. His only downfall is kitties - he shouldn't live with them. At about 5 years old, he's an incredibly handsome husky. Although we have no paperwork for him, he sure looks to be purebred. Jasper was found roaming in TX, and we were asked to help. We said we would. At the vet, it was discovered that he was positive for heartworm disease (not a big surprise for strays in southern states). An awesome person stepped up to foster him. She adores him, and has seen him through his heartworm treatment, worked with him on fine-tuning his basics, and gotten him all ready to find a fabulous forever home. He has completed his heartworm treatment and tested negative in the follow-up blood test. Because of the heartworm treatment we have had to wait a while to do his neuter surgery. It will be done prior to his being adopted. A few weeks ago he was scheduled to come to CT, but getting on transport he let us know he wasn't a big fan of being on a big truck in a crate surrounded by lots of barking dogs. So we went to "Plan B" - which is for him to travel to CT with his foster when she makes the trip at the end of May. The bottom line, though, is that Jasper deserves the best forever family EVER! He's playful, he's friendly, he's not overly hyper. He does "talk" in true husky fashion, so he'll do best in a single family house. He'd love a fenced yard. He'd love canine and/or or human brothers and sisters. We'd prefer a family with breed experience - Jasper is a husky, through and through 🙂 If you would like to welcome this good boy home, please don't delay and message or email us for an application.
