Story
Meet Stormy! This beautiful girl came to us from a local rescue and is ready to find her forever home. At around 4–6 years old, Stormy is the perfect mix of playful and relaxed. She’s a total love bug who can’t get enough affection and enjoys spending time with her people. Stormy walks nicely on a leash and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend. Stormy has previously lived with other dogs, but a meet-and-greet is required to ensure a good match. She has not yet been cat-tested. If you’re interested in giving Stormy the loving home she deserves, please stop by during our operational hours or submit an application online at almosthomeli.org.

Story
I am looking for a loving, experienced home for my 7-year-old Siberian Husky. This is a very difficult decision. She is a spayed female with papers and has been part of our family for many years. She is affectionate, enjoys being around her people, and does well with children. She can also get along with other dogs with proper introductions. She is not suited for a home with cats. Like many Huskies, she is intelligent, strong-willed, and needs someone who understands the breed and is comfortable with structure, routine, and patience.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Salvador is truly one-of-a-kind, a dog with a unique and captivating appearance that is sure to steal your heart. Sporting one brown eye and one blue eye, Salvador's eyes are simply mesmerizing, and his sleek white coat accentuates this striking contrast beautifully. While we can't pinpoint his exact breed mix, there's a hint of boxer in him, giving him a strong and athletic build. But it's not just his looks that make Salvador special; he's also a bundle of joy and a total goofball. He's got that endearing lanky charm and a penchant for galloping around the play yards with infectious enthusiasm. Salvador has a favorite staff member whom he adores playing with, and they've even taught him a few tricks that he's eager to showcase. Salvador is the perfect companion for someone seeking a big, lovable goofball to share their life with. He's full of energy, love, and a playful spirit that's truly infectious. However, it's worth noting that Salvador can be a bit shy around strangers. He's looking for someone patient and willing to spend some quality time getting to know him at St. Francis Farm (SFF). Your support and interest in Salvador could make a world of difference in his life. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this unique and charming dog, please consider reaching out to us at SFF to arrange a meeting with Sal, as he's affectionately known. Together, you can embark on a wonderful journey of companionship and love.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 6:00 pm

Story
Meet Zeus – 5-Year-Old Siberian Husky It breaks our hearts to make this decision, but we’re looking to find a loving new home for our 5-year-old husky, Zeus. With my military commitments keeping me away from home frequently and my spouse preparing to care for our newborn, we’ve realized we can no longer give Zeus the time, attention, and exercise he truly deserves. This decision comes entirely from wanting what’s best for him. Zeus is a beautiful, intelligent, and loving dog who thrives on companionship and activity. He deserves a family that has the time to take him on adventures, play with him, and make him part of their everyday life. We’re not looking for just anyone—we want to find the right home where Zeus will be loved and cared for for the rest of his life. We’d prefer someone familiar with huskies or other high-energy breeds who understands their exercise and enrichment needs. If you think you could provide Zeus with the life he deserves, please reach out!

Story
"Morrison" | Tag #2129 | Husky | Neutered male | 2 years old Morrison is a 2-year-old Husky with a big grin and an even bigger heart. This handsome boy is happiest when he’s outside, whether he’s playing in the snow, exploring on walks, or enjoying a good game of fetch. Morrison is a playful, social pup who loves making new dog friends and would thrive in a home where he can have regular playdates and outdoor adventures. He knows basic commands and is eager to please, but like many huskies, he can be a bit stubborn so he’s looking for an experienced Husky owner who understands the breed’s temperament and energy level. With the right person, he’ll be the perfect companion for outdoor adventures and cozy nights in after a full day of fun. If you’re ready for lots of laughs and adventures, Morrison is ready to meet you! Interested in adopting? Please call the Shelter at (631) 224-5660 or email us at AnimalShelter@islipNY.gov with the name of the pet your interested in adopting.
