Story
[DogName] is a COURTESY LISTING available for private adoption -- for more information, please contact the owner listed below. DO NOT apply through the GSRA website as this dog and owner are not affiliated with GSRA. Gunner is a loyal, intelligent, and affectionate 4.5 year old German Shepherd who has been with us since he was a puppy. He is a loving companion who bonds deeply with his people and thrives in a home where he can be part of the family. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows his basic commands. Gunner enjoys playing fetch, tug of war, chewing on his toys, and going for runs or long walks. He has lived with his male sibling Scout since birth and has also been around our nieces and nephews without issues. Gunner is friendly, playful, and very devoted to his home and the people he trusts. He does best in a structured environment with consistent leadership and regular exercise, as is typical for the breed. On leash, Gunner can be protective and may be reactive toward other dogs, so he will need an experienced owner who understands German Shepherd behavior and is comfortable continuing training and proper introductions. He has previously done very well socializing with other dogs on numerous occasions while attending daycare and boarding in controlled environments without issues with other dogs, but he will do best with someone who can provide guidance, patience, and continued structure. This decision is absolutely no fault of Gunner. He is a great dog and has been deeply loved. Due to my own mental and physical injuries as a disabled veteran, I am no longer able to consistently meet the level of exercise and structure he needs to thrive. Because we love him, we want to make sure he has the opportunity to be in a home that can fully meet his needs and give him the life he deserves. Gunner would thrive in a home that can give him the time, exercise, and attention he deserves. He will come with his bed, toys, leashes, collars, a full bag of food, and supplies to help with a smooth transition. While Gunner can be placed on his own in the right home, he has been raised with his sibling Scout since they were puppies, and we would strongly prefer to keep them together if possible. We understand that may not always be feasible, so Scout is being listed separately as well, but keeping them together would be ideal. This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family. We love Gunner deeply and want to ensure he goes to a home that can meet his needs and give him the active, stable life he deserves. We are located in Landrum, SC and are willing to work with the right adopter within reasonable driving distance to find him the best possible home.
