Story
He's honestly a man for all seasons, but August is coming in hot as he is fast, handsome and smart all in one package and that is summertime hot! August is a husky come shepherd mix who is an adult weighing about 42 lbs now full grown. August loves to run and is an active dude looking for active people and he ain't afraid of no adventure either. August does well with other dogs though prefers to be the big man in his friend groups. This man is the total package of fun, love and brains and will prove a great companion for people who thrive on the unique characteristics of his breed mix. It might be winter that's a'coming, but August will bring in the warmth to these cold nights! *Sleepover Feedback: "August was the sweetest, most wonderful dog for the weekend! We were so blessed to host him. He would take note of and react to other dogs on our walk - not at all aggressive or loud - seemed like he wanted to play! He’s a bit timid to get in the car initially, but once he’s in, he settles down quite easily. He is a fantastic sleeper. Overall, August is such a warm, loyal, and cuddly companion." *Additional feedback: "August’ name sums him up so well; he is warm, energetic and his sunny disposition feels like a hug.August settled into our home very quickly, displaying manners while still letting his personality shine. He is full of energy and enjoyed our long walks and city exploration". Weekend Host Feedback: "August was a joy to have. He immediately became best buds with my shepherd mix, Daisy. They played hard and slept well the entire weekend. He settled extremely well around 10 both nights to go to bed. With that he did amazing in his crate both nights and only whined once he heard me get up in the morning. He did really well on the leash. He learned/is learning to not jump for treats and to sit, but he is an extremely fast learner and seems eager to impress. He didn't pull beyond the initial getting out the door on walks both with Daisy and by himself. He seemed to love car rides, and doesn't seem to lack any confidence. The only time he barked the entire weekend was when someone passed directly outside the glass door to my backyard."

*** AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY - NO SELF-SCHEDULING - EMAIL ADOPTIONS@SAVINGGRACENC.ORG TO MAKE AN APPT*** Meet Rex🐶 This sweet pup is an absolute dream! Calm, affectionate, and full of love, Rex has quickly become one of his foster mom’s favorite dogs ever. 🛏️ Sleeping Through the Night: Yes! Rex sleeps soundly all night long — no whining, no fussing. 🏠 Crate Training: He does excellent in his crate about 95% of the time. He is also eating his meals in the crate. He does have a mild resource guarding quirk while he's eating or has a bone/chew toy when other dog pass by him while crated. Easiest option is to keep his crate in an area away from others dog while eating. 🚶‍♂️ Leash Skills: He’s done great the few times he’s been on a leash! Since he has a fenced yard, he hasn’t needed it often, but he’s cooperative and calm when he’s used one. 🚽 Potty Training: He has done great with his potty training and has been accident-free in his foster home! He’s got great manners — just make sure to take him straight outside when he comes out of his crate, and he’ll do his business right away. 🧠 Commands & Training: He doesn’t seem to know formal commands yet, but he’s very smart and eager to please. With a little time and consistency, he’ll pick them up quickly! 🐕🐈 Dog & Cat Friendly: He’s great with other dogs and cats! He doesn’t bother the cats at all and coexists peacefully with the dogs in his foster home. 👧 Children: Older kids 13yrs and up that are respectful of dogs would be best for him. He needs an adult only home or one with teenagers only no small kids. ❤️ Personality & Home Life: Oh my goodness — this boy is just the sweetest! He’s calm for a puppy, gentle, and has wonderful house manners. He hasn’t chewed anything he shouldn’t and loves to curl up on a big, comfy bed. He’s not very interested in toys yet, preferring snuggles and quiet time. Because of his mild resource guarding while in his crate when eating or has a bone/chew toy, Rex should continue eating separately in his crate in his new home away from other pets and bowls removed immediately afterwards. Otherwise, he’s easygoing and respectful of other pets. He’d be an excellent only dog or would do just fine in a home with other animals. Rex is truly a gem — loving, polite, and such a joy to have around. Whoever adopts him is going to be very lucky! 💛

Story
She’s got the look, and this brown eyed girl is never blue. Roxette is an adult German Shepherd arriving at a healthy 77lbs. Athletic, attentive and very people focused, Roxette is a jewel in GSD clothing! She’s a sensitive girl that looks for attention and approval and replies with learning new things quickly as she’s sharp as can be. She walks well on a leash, and the Saturday AM hiking program is one of her favorite things while at Saving Grace. While that is a highlight, she’s ready for her own hiking program with her new forever. The 90’s popstar would agree that our Roxette has the look!
