Story
(DOB 08/01/2023) This handsome GSD mix never quite grew into his ears, which adds to his charm!! He has a smooth and silky coat and a smile that will  melt your heart. Berkley is an active young guy who’s all about daily playtime, and fun adventures with his family. Whether it’s running around the yard, hiking through the trails, or playing fetch, he’s ready to make every day an adventure. This sweet boy is just looking for the right family to take him home and give him all the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion to share your active lifestyle and your heart with, Berkley is your guy!  Berkley is the ultimate toy sharer, and he LOVES playtime—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, showing off his best victory strut with one proudly in his mouth, or sharing a good game of tug-of-war. Berkley is still working on his leash manners, so a fenced in backyard is ideal for him!  He’s a tall boy, with big ears, with an even bigger heart, and who just LOVES being with his people. Whether you’re chilling on the couch, playing in the yard, or out on a fun adventure, Berkley is your ride-or-die sidekick! Berkley would do best in a home with older children who can keep up with his playful spirit. Berkley is also house and crate trained, which means he’s already got some solid house manners in place.   If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who will bring joy and energy to your daily life, Berkley is ready to be your new best friend. Come meet this charming guy—he’s ready to run, play, and make every day an adventure with you! As part of Berkley’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Berkely, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1887422##

Story
Meet Bad Bunny — a very good girl with a name that turns heads and a face that steals hearts. With her blonde coat, scrumptiously soft plush fur, perfectly curled tail, and big, dark, soulful eyes, she makes an impression everywhere she goes. Found as a stray, Bad Bunny clearly knew the comforts of indoor living. She settled into foster life like she’d been there before and quickly showed off her good manners. She is housebroken (and knows how to ask politely to go out) and crate-trained. She is happy to be your walking companion, but could use some work refining her leash manners a bit—squirrels are VERY exciting creatures, you know. Bunny is a wonderful, loving companion who just needs a little “polishing” to be her best self. She’s got a few things her foster mom is working with her to improve (like being more consistent on a leash and not jumping when she’s excited), but Bunny is very eager to please and responds beautifully to consistency and guidance. Bad Bunny is dog-friendly but will need slow, structured introductions to new friends (which is really how all dogs should be introduced!). She can be a bit insecure at first and bonds closely with “her” person. She’s the affectionate, stay-near-you type — a loyal shadow who wants reassurance, connection, and to know she’s safe. She thrives with routine and loves being part of her person’s day. Bad Bunny is heartworm-positive and will begin treatments soon. The treatment takes several months, but if the right family for her is found, she can be adopted before treatments are completed and the rescue will continue to cover all costs associated with her treatment. With proper care and rest, dogs recover beautifully from heartworm treatment, and our rescue will support her adopter every step of the way. What Bunny is looking for: • A patient, consistent home to support her and build on her skills • Someone committed to building her confidence • A family that appreciates a devoted sidekick and walking buddy If you’re searching for a soft, sensitive, strikingly beautiful companion whose heart is ready to bond deeply, Bad Bunny may be your girl.

Story
Meet Hunny :) she is a loving, sweet and kind German shepherd mixed (not sure what she’s mixed with but she is not full GS). She has been with us since 2022 and has gotten along great with my little siblings. She actually was taken in because she appeared at our door step back in September 2022 and we saw she was a gentle little dog and my siblings got so attached to her. We got her fixed, chipped and she’s very well trained. She listens and doesn’t typically have accidents in the house. The reason as to why we’re looking to rehome her is because her main owner (my sister) is starting a job where she is going to be traveling out of state and won’t be coming back for weeks at a time. Most adults here in the household work and have full schedules so being able to take care of Hunny bun will be hard. We are sad to have to let her go but hoping she can reach a loving and caring family :)

Story
This German Shepherd and her brother have nothing but sweetness in their hearts ; not a trace of aggression; yet they are trapped in heartbreaking, inhumane conditions. Their owner is an elderly woman and she is no longer physically capable of caring for them. To her credit, she knows this and is trying to find them a safe, loving home. In the meantime, these dogs are left to endure the harsh elements; pouring rain, bitter cold, and blazing summer heat. They live outside in crumbling, filthy chicken coops with little protection and only inconsistent access to fresh water. It is a devastating situation to witness. And yet, despite their suffering, both dogs remain incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting with people. Their spirits are still intact. They don't need rehabilitation.
