Story
Who is ready for a party in a Shepherd package? Cause Kanako is ready for a party with you! This young adult shepherd mix may come in a smaller package weighing about 30 lbs now but she has the energy of a dynamo. Kanako is young, smart and active and needs a family who is willing to engage her mind and body on a regular basis. She is a perfect student waiting to happen, as she will learn basic commands with ease. Kanako can be a little shy in new situations with people but she is very outgoing with other dogs and would likely best be placed with a larger male dog given her energy level and play style. This young lady is wonderful in her crate and much as she loves to play like a wild woman, she can settle and rest. She loves the water so she is game for streams, pools and the like...you name and she'll go in it. Kanako is ready to show you what a stunning shepherd can do. Come meet her!

Story
Big Ben is a 3 year old ~75 pound mix, suspected Malinois, Great Dane, Lab and Pit mix (DNA test pending!). He is the coolest color with a dark ridge down his back, and is extremely soft. He is easy to train, very obedient, and extremely fun! Couch potatoes need not apply, as Ben wants to do things (with or without you) but preferably with you (though cuddling on the couch is awesome after doing other stuff together). Ben has started scent work training, has professional obedience training, and will excel at any job he is given the chance to try! He is good with other dogs when managed by an educated owner, but has had dog aggression issues in the past. He currently lives easily with 5+ other dogs and is very gentle when playing with his friends, but sometimes is unsure how to handle new friends and takes guidance well. He is still being introduced to cats, but can likely coexist with them just fine as his prey drive is medium - low. He desperately wants to be a good boy, he just often needs reminded what a good boy needs to be doing (or not doing)

Whether it’s running around the yard, hiking through the trails, or playing fetch, he’s ready to make every day an adventure. This sweet boy is just looking for the right family to take him home and give him all the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion to share your active lifestyle and your heart with, Berkley is your guy!  Berkley is the ultimate toy sharer, and he LOVES playtime—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, showing off his best victory strut with one proudly in his mouth, or sharing a good game of tug-of-war. Berkley is still working on his leash manners, so a fenced in backyard is ideal for him!  He’s a tall boy, with big ears, with an even bigger heart, and who just LOVES being with his people. Whether you’re chilling on the couch, playing in the yard, or out on a fun adventure, Berkley is your ride-or-die sidekick! Berkley would do best in a home with older children who can keep up with his playful spirit. Berkley is also house and crate trained, which means he’s already got some solid house manners in place.   If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who will bring joy and energy to your daily life, Berkley is ready to be your new best friend. Come meet this charming guy—he’s ready to run, play, and make every day an adventure with you! As part of Berkley’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Berkely, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1887422##

Story
Meet BB, a very good girl with a face that steals hearts with her blonde coat, scrumptiously soft plush fur, perfectly curled tail, and big, dark, soulful eyes. She greets everyone, men, women, kids of all ages with a polite sit and a request for pets. Found as a stray, she clearly knew the comforts of indoor living. She is housebroken (and knows how to ask politely to go out) and crate trained. She is happy to be your walking companion but could use some work refining her leash manners. BB is a wonderful, loving companion who just needs a little “polishing” to be her best self. She’s got a few things her foster mom is working with her to improve (like being more consistent on a leash and not jumping when she’s excited), but BB is very eager to please. BB is dog-friendly with both male and female dogs with supervised, slow introductions to new friends. BB is heartworm-positive and just completed the first step in treatment. In about 30 days, she'll have the final step but can be adopted before treatment is complete and the rescue will continue to cover all costs associated with her treatment. Dogs recover beautifully from heartworm treatment, and our rescue will support her adopter every step of the way. BB will thrive in a home that will provide a routine she can count on. She is not an anxious girl, but the longer she has been in foster care with the same routine, the more relaxed and happier she is. She is a low to moderate energy girl and enjoys long naps in the sunny spots around the house. If you'd like to meet BB, please reach out to FRR and fill out an application!

Story
Hawk is the sweetest housemate you will ever have. "Hawk" is almost in sarcasm as "mouse" is more appropriate to her timid nature! She lived on the run raising puppies, and still stays on alert - especially living in the city! All the new sounds to get used to is a lot for a shy one! Her pups are adopted and living their best lives so time to focus on Mama Hawk! She LOVES to come running to you for scratches and will give the sweetest kisses to you. She sleeps through the night in her crate and LOVES toys. Hawk is VERY food motivated. She is learning how to play with other dogs - she wants to engage, but doesn't quite get HOW to yet!! Part of her good natured "country come to town" persona ... you can see her watching other dogs trying to figure out their wrestling. She'd do best with a patient dog who doesn't get in her face, but one who can show her how to be a relaxed dog - be it in the suburbs or in a quiet country cottage!
