ADOPT A BARNYARD CAT!Our Barn Cats are healthy, ear tipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and in need of a new job! All they ask for is daily food, water, veterinary care as needed, shelter in the space they protect, and a mission - they`ll happily provide you with pest control in your barn, shed, or wherever you have a rodent problem! After you pick up your working cat, you will need to provide a safe place for them to acclimate to their new surroundings for 4 to 6 weeks before allowing access to the outdoors. This can be an escape-proof room, an enclosed barn or even an extra large dog crate set up with everything they need. While they are in their safe place, you will need to give them daily food and water plus a litter box and a place to hide. Once the confinement period is over, you can allow them access to the space they are going to protect. Continue to give them the food and water based on the routine that you have already established and be sure to provide them a safe place to hide in inclement weather. There is no adoption fee to adopt a working barnyard cat.Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey.

MEET COLLEEN!Colleen knows exactly who she is and honestly, that is something to respect. 2 year old Colleen will absolutely love you, just not all the time and strictly on her own terms. Her affection is the kind that is appointment only and there is a very limited window of availability. We don`t mean any of this in a negative way - Colleen is a wonderful, vibrant, and social girl! But we aren`t sure if she will ever be a lap cat and want to be honest about that (for both yours and Colleen`s sake.) It is part of her charm and we love her for it!In true Colleen fashion, she is not only particular about her affection schedule, but also about her cuisine. She has been thriving on a prescription Urinary diet and will need to stay on it to keep feeling her sassy best. This is but a small dietary commitment for a lifetime of quietly companionship.Colleen is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, current on prevention, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She is independent, emotionally in-tune with her own needs, and feels that love is earned and not expected. For the right person, Colleen would be a calm presence, a respectful companion, and the most beautiful little bestie.Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey. All Adoptions require a Pre-Adoption Interview with a YCAS Adoption Counselor, a meet and greet, and adoption approval. Every adoptable cat is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention. All pets are behaviorally and medically evaluated prior to being placed up for adoption. The adoption fee is $77.

Story
MEET RONA!Rona is a gentle and sweet 2-year-old girl looking for her purrfect match! Rona was found as a stray, but we have reason to believe she is accustomed to indoor life – she hasn`t been a huge fan of our fenced in outdoor catio and prefers her proper place: in a cat bed with a blanket! She has a very gentle spirit, preferring to keep to herself and allow you to decide when you want to give her love. Rona is perfectly content quietly doing her own thing, which is most likely laying around and enjoying her peace! She is the definition of laid-back and has a very calming aura. She might come off as shy initially, but she is very affectionate once you give her the time she needs to decompress!Rona has tested well with other cats at the shelter that are as laid back as she is, as long as they aren’t too pushy or confrontational. She has even been non-reactive towards calm dogs that give her the space and respect she deserves! Rona doesn’ t do drama and if you bring that type of energy to the table, she has zero time for it.Rona is up to date on vaccines, spayed, current on prevention, microchipped, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Now, she just needs someone who values a slower lifestyle and a whole lot of cat naps!Complete an adoption survey at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/petadoptionsurvey.
