Introducing Grey Mama. She is young. She is gentle. She is friendly. And she is pregnant for the second time in 2026. Grey Mama has never had a home. BUT THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE. ❤️ Grey Mama has spent her life as a community cat, struggling to survive outdoors while raising kittens. She had never been inside a house. Never ridden in a car. Never been to a veterinary clinic. Never been surrounded by strangers. But when her caretaker needed to get her to the vet, Grey Mama allowed herself to be picked up and carried into a completely unfamiliar world. And she won the hearts of the veterinary staff with her gentle, trusting nature. Now, her life is going to change. Grey Mama is part of AC ARF's Targeted TNR at Patterson Lane: A Community Colony Initiative. Our rescue and veterinary partner will see her through this pregnancy, delivery, and the raising of her kittens. When her babies are old enough, they will all be sterilized and vaccinated. Grey Mama will be spayed, so she will never have to go through another pregnancy. And then AC ARF will work to find inside homes for Grey Mama and her kittens - homes where they can be safe, loved, and finally have the chance to thrive. For a cat who has spent her young life surviving, this is the beginning of something wonderful. No more litters. No more struggling to survive. No more wondering where her next meal will come from. Just a warm bed. A safe place. Someone to love her. And, hopefully, a family to call her own. We don't have a good picture of Grey Mama yet, but we will soon! Mama Lacy will soon be available for adoption. Here is her story: Lacy was a free roaming cat in a rural area where a community member was caring for many abandoned & discarded cats and kittens, providing them with food, water, outside shelter and trying to get them all fixed. But she saw Lacy was pregnant and had just given birth to four and that this was probably her third litter. Her caregiver loved her, had named her and knew she and her kittens deserved a better life. So she reached out to Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation (AC ARF) for help to keep Mama Lacy and her kittens safe, healthy and happy. On December 27 when the kittens were only 2 days old, AC ARF arranged for Lacy to go with her four babies to our partner foster, Embry Kitty foster. Their Foster Momma told us that Lacy has proven to be an excellent kitten mama, nursing them and keeping her babies clean and safe, and moving them when she felt they were ready. From a cat carrier to a raised hidey box, then to a kiddie pool (where Lacy could jump out and take a break), and finally more freedom to explore and play in kitty room! Mama Lacy and kittens are still with their Foster Momma warm, safe and warm. As soon as they are ready, they will all be vetted and neutered through AC ARF and, once healed, adoptable through Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation.
