You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Foster or forever home wanted, meet Kaia. Kaia and her sister Lulu arrived at the Riverside shelter as strays on January 25, 2025. Sadly no one came for them and time was running out for them in the overcrowded shelter. Kaia has been in boarding since we pulled them from the shelter on March 14th, so we are still getting to know them. We know from the shelter volunteers that Kaia is very sweet and friendly. Kaia can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly. Kaia loves attention and is dog friendly. Kaia has a beautiful brindle coat, is very healthy and has no behavior issues.  Kaia would love to find a family that will love her and introduce her to new adventures and continue training so she can grow to be the best version of herself. If you are interested in meeting Kaia, please fill out an application at labradorsandfriends.org. Story
This big boy is the sweetest, most loving dog I’ve ever met! It honestly breaks my heart that I am not in the position to keep him!! He is still kind of a puppy, but a pretty lazy one, he definitely needs a yard to be able to stress his long legs but he is not very hyper. Just has spurts of energy but then he’s done, he’s favorite pass time is snuggling on the couch! He’s super friendly with people, even good with kids and loves playing with all other dogs! He is crate trained and listens very well.

Story
**** Please read adoption information carefully!!!**** Zsa Zsa is a special little girl! She is beautiful, with just the most strikingly gorgeous bridle pattern. She is very curious, athletic, affectionate and loving. Zsa Zsa is outgoing and confident. She is a lap dog. When not playing or investigating the yard, she prefers to snuggle and curl up next to or on top of you. ? Zsa Zsa is a well-adjusted puppy who has been hand raised. She has never shown any signs of aggression of any kind, including food aggression. All of the puppies are fed together, and typically choose to share three or four bowls. Zsa Zsa is used to playing and sleeping with the other dogs on the property. She is well socialized, both with humans and dogs. While I have never seen her interact with a cat, I have no reason to anticipate a problem. ************************************ ADOPTION INFORMATION ************************************ I only adopt LOCALLY; San Diego and immediate vicinity. Story
Meet Dewey Decimal! Dewey Decimal entered Downey Shelter as an emaciated stray and was not claimed. He is that perfect medium-sized dog who doesn't really walk like a dog, eat like a dog, or know what to do with dog friends or people. We don't anything about Dewey's previous life, but it seems like he didn't get to experience much. Dewey came to us with untreated arthritis. He is on some good pain meds now, but walks with stiff legs and a hop. As you can see in the video, it doesn't keep him from enjoying our weekly group hikes! He keeps on truckin' and loves sniffing on the trails. Dewey has great leash manners - doesn't pull and stays calm around passing dogs, big and small. Dewey is great with dogs, wagging his helicopter tail when he meets new friends. He does well on-site in play groups of 3-4 dogs. Dewey loves the simple pleasures of a plush dog bed. He has also learned to enjoy ear scratches and gentle pets. He dances for back scratches, too! Dewey needed someone to show him what life as a loved dog offers, while appreciating that everything is new to him, from living under a roof, to sharing his space with a human. Thankfully, Dewey finally got that chance when he was chosen by an experienced Foster Family. His foster mom proudly shared this update: "Spring is a season of renewal—a time for fresh starts, growth, and second chances. For Dewey, this season marks a beautiful transformation not just in his life, but in the lives of those lucky enough to know him. When Dewey first arrived in our home, he was wary and unsure. Trust didn’t come easy, and the hustle and bustle of a home—kids, dogs, Amazon deliveries —felt overwhelming. But with time, patience, and a lot of patient love, Dewey has started to let down his guard. He’s learned to trust us, has consistently accepted the presence of neighborhood kids, and even shares space with our resident dog. Progress! Dewey is a quiet, low-maintenance companion who doesn’t ask for much—just a calm, understanding home where he can continue to feel safe. Watching him relax, explore, and simply enjoy being a dog has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering him. Dewey is good for the soul. Who wouldn’t benefit from a leisurely stroll, taking time to smell all the good stuff along the way? He’s a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and savor the small joys life offers. If you believe in second chances, quiet loyalty, and the beauty of slow and steady love—Dewey just might be your guy." Dewey's painful eye was removed, and he’s feeling so much better! His Fling family has graciously offered to continue caring for Dewey through his recovery. As his Fling Mom said: "Chevy may be down one eye, but he’s still got all the heart—and then some." To give Dewey a forever home where he can continue to blossom, please email placement@ frostedfacesfoundation.org
