Kali came to us as a surrender with her brother Shiva - two 6‑year‑old Plott Hounds. Shiva has since been adopted, and now we're eagerly waiting for it to be Kali's turn.We truly thought Kali would get interest quickly. She's the perfect age, she's not a pittie (who sadly get overlooked far too often), and she's a rare breed to see in shelters. But the applications haven't come, and we want to change that.Plott Hounds are special dogs.• Originating in the 18th century with the Plott family of North Carolina, they became the state dog in 1989.• They're athletic, muscular, and known for their gorgeous brindle coats.• They're intelligent, courageous, loyal, and deeply affectionate with their families.• They thrive with active owners who enjoy keeping their minds and bodies engaged.Kali embodies all of this.She walks beautifully on a leash, loves her play‑yard time, knows some basic commands, and keeps a tidy kennel. She came in with another dog and was thrilled to be with him. She can live with another dog, though she's a bit selective - usually with females. Cats, however, are not her thing.Volunteers lovingly call her Kali Kangaroo because when she gets excited to see her people, she bounces on her back legs. The moment she's out of her kennel, that excitement melts into gentle affection and a desire for one‑on‑one time.Kali loves her walks but is just as happy to sit beside you and soak up pets - her favorite hobby. She's silly, fun, happy, smart, and full of personality. If that sounds like what you're looking for, this brindle beauty might be your perfect match.
