I’m Harley. I like to take things slow at first—new people and new places can feel a little overwhelming, so I might hang back and quietly observe before I come say hello. But once I realize I’m safe, my sweet, gentle personality really starts to shine through.My siblings and I didn’t have the easiest start. We spent most of our early months outside and didn’t get much exposure to the world, so I’m still learning what it means to be a “normal” puppy. At around 7 months old, I’m at a really important stage where I can learn quickly—but I’ll need a patient family to guide me.I’ll likely need help with house training, leash walking, and basic commands, and I may be a little unsure about things like new sounds, strangers, or being inside a home. Positive reinforcement, routine, and encouragement will go a long way with me.The best part? Once I trust you, I’m incredibly loving and loyal. I’m the kind of pup who will quietly lean into you for comfort and soak up every bit of affection. I just need a little time to feel safe.My early life was pretty limited—I didn’t get to explore much or experience life inside a home—so now that I’m about 7 months old, everything is still new to me. I’ll need help with all the puppy basics like house training, crate training, and leash walking. I may also be unsure about new environments, so slow introductions and lots of reassurance will be important.The good thing about my age is that I’m still very adaptable. With a consistent routine, positive reinforcement, and gentle socialization, I’ll gain confidence and start to enjoy all the things a happy puppy should.Once I trust you, I’m incredibly affectionate. I love being near my people and will happily soak up all the cuddles you’re willing to give. I was actually born in foster care here about 10 years ago, so you could say this place has known me all my life. Since then, I’ve bounced between homes a few times — not because I’m a bad boy, but because I’ve always needed a little extra time and understanding to build trust with new people and situations. Once I feel safe, though, I’m as loyal and loving as they come.During my last stay, I joined the Homeward Bound program and spent a week with some great trainers who helped me meet new dogs, explore new environments, and gain confidence. I really blossomed! I was adopted into what I thought would be my forever home, but sadly, I came back when my beloved owner passed away unexpectedly. I’m adjusting well here again, but this time, I’m really hoping to find my true forever family.I can live with other dogs as long as they don’t mind a friend who can be a bit pushy sometimes. Small kids make me nervous, but teenagers are totally fine. Cats, though… yeah, they’re not for me.Now, I’ve got to be honest about one thing — I am highly food motivated. Like, really motivated. If it’s edible (and sometimes even if it’s not), I’m interested! Because I have very little self-control when it comes to snacks, my new family will need to help me keep my waistline in check. I’ll happily eat my way to a double chin if left to my own devices, and that’s just not great for a dog my age.If you’ve got a patient heart, a sense of humor, and a knack for portion control, I might just be your perfect companion.
