Story
Cooper is a social, energetic 7 year old Lab/Plott hound mix. Weighs approximately 71 pounds. He is friendly, playful and outgoing. He is receptive to verbal commands and is eager to please. He is learning not to jump up to greet you. He has a soft, affectionate side as well. Like most dogs, he just wants to be near you. Look no further, because you just described Cooper! Copper is a young adult Tennessee Brindle Dog mix. To him there is no such thing as a stranger - only best friends he hasn't met yet. He's a happy go lucky guy who just wants to be involved in whatever his family is doing, whether it's a hike in a park or hanging on the couch watching a movie. He is an active boy though, who needs daily exercise and a firm yet gentle hand to set boundaries for him. He really wants to be a good boy, he just needs to know what to do! Cooper is house trained and crate trained. He does well with most dogs (some large males he doesn't like), but needs someone who is okay with his rough and tumble style of play. He is currently fostered with cats and does okay with them, though occasionally chases them if he gets excited. He is still working on his manners and does well most of the time, but sometimes a new visitor or some food too close to the edge of the counter is too much temptation for him to not hop up for. He knows "sit", and we're working on "down" and leash manners. Cooper has the potential to be a stellar family dog for someone who is willing to continue teaching him - is Fee waived____Please Note: We ask that an application be filled out before coming to the shelter.
