Story
Maisy  is an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog who is a joy to have around. She loves being part of whatever you're doing and quickly wins people over with her fun, social personality. Energy Level? Medium. Maisy has bursts of playful "mountain goat" energy and enjoys exploring, but she's equally happy relaxing with a sunny spot for a nap. House-trained? Mostly. Maisy does well about going outside to potty but has had some accidents on the rugs , so her foster has found it easiest to keep those picked up while she continues to build good habits. Describe how they are on leash? Maisy walks well on leash and enjoys getting out for walks and adventures. Describe how they are with other dogs? When meeting new dogs, Maisy may bark or lunge initially, but once she has a chance to settle in and become comfortable, she does well and enjoys canine companionship. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Yes. Maisy has lived with a cat, whom she happily ignores, and she gets along very well with another dog in her foster home. Commands they know?  Maisy is still learning her basic commands and is currently working on "sit," "off," and "quiet." She's eager to learn with positive reinforcement. What are their favorite things? Attention, affection, affection, affection,  food (especially treats!), walks, and spending time with her people. She also enjoys social outings after she's had a little time to check out her surroundings. What do they need to work on? Maisy is continuing to learn her basic manners and commands. Like many curious dogs, she'll occasionally help herself to shoes or laundry if they're left within reach, so she'll benefit from continued training, puppy proofing, and management. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? Maisy does well when left alone. She is crated for up to four hours at a time, typically no more than a couple of days each week, and handles it well. Where do they sleep? Maisy sleeps comfortably in her crate. What is their ideal home? Maisy is a wonderfully adaptable dog who would fit into many different types of homes. She has done well with dogs and cats, and while she hasn't been around children yet, her sweet, social nature suggests she could do well with a family willing to give her a proper introduction. Whether it's a single person, a couple, or a family, Maisy will thrive with people who enjoy including her in their daily lives and can provide moderate exercise, continued training, and lots of love. She's an easygoing, affectionate companion who forms strong bonds and will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family. Story
Dottie  is a very sweet, high-energy puppy-like young dog. We should have named her Rascal because she is a little Rascal. She loves to play, loves to go on walks, and explore. She is looking for a family that is up for a whirlwind adventure. Energy Level?  High  House-trained?  We are working on it Describe how they are on leash?  She is learning leash manners and catching on Describe how they are with other dogs?  Good with other dogs overall. She may be shy when meeting new dogs, but once she's comfortable, she enjoys playing. She can be protective of her food, so meals should be fed separately. She may also show reactivity when confined in her crate, but this typically subsides once she's out and has a chance to interact appropriately. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Limited exposure to cats so far, but she has done well with the interactions she's had. Based on her temperament, we think she may do well in a home with cats, but slow, supervised introductions are recommended. Commands they know?   She is learning to take treats gently and is making good progress. She hasn't mastered any basic cues and would benefit from positive reinforcement training. What are their favorite things?   Dottie loves to play, eat, enjoy treats, snuggle, and explore. She also loves her toys and is always happy to entertain herself with a favorite toy. What do they need to work on?   She will benefit from basic training to help her greet people politely without jumping, wait patiently instead of barking for treats or food, and finish her potty training. She also needs to learn that she doesn't need to guard or worry about sharing her food and toys. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and a little patience, Dottie has all the makings of a wonderful companion. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Dottie has been left a full workday with the resident dog and access through the doggie door, which she learned on the first day. Where do they sleep?  Dottie is crate trained; however, she has been sleeping in an xpen. What is their ideal home?   Dottie would do best with another playful dog who can match her energy and enjoy romping around with her. She is a very smart girl who will thrive with basic training and is likely to learn quickly. She will benefit from a family that is committed to working with her to help her feel safe and understand that no one is going to take her resources away, and who is up for puppy-proofing and working on mouthy puppy behaviors so they don't become lasting habits. Dottie is an active dog who would enjoy daily walks, playtime, and a securely fenced yard where she can run and explore. She is incredibly sweet and affectionate, has so much love to give, and will make an amazing companion. Story
Runt is a sensitive soul who is learning how to be a dog and just needs a little extra time and patience to feel safe. He is working hard on his socialization and will thrive in a home that can read his body language and respect his boundaries. He takes a little while to warm up to new friends, but once he does, he is incredibly loyal and loving. One quirk about him is that he does not like squeaky toys.  Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash?  Runt is a good little walker. He is not reactive to other dogs, but I would prevent new humans from approaching him, as he can be guarded around new people. Describe how they are with other dogs?  Runt is great with other dogs. He will mostly ignore new dogs, but once he feels safe with them, he will initiate play. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  He has only been around the resident dog at his foster home. Commands they know?  Runt is working on basic commands. What are their favorite things?  Cuddling with his favorite humans, treats, and walks.  What do they need to work on?  Building  trust and basic commands. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Runt has been left at home for 8 hours at a time, twice a week, while at work. He is perfectly fine being left alone. He will sleep in his bed most of the time.  Where do they sleep?  In his XPen on his bed. What is their ideal home?  Runt would thrive in an adult-only home that can read his body language and respect his boundaries. He takes a little while to warm up to new friends, but once he does, he is incredibly loyal and loving.
