Story
  A quick look at Wanda and you probably think she is a Terrier mix. Actually, she is a Portuguese Podengo Pequeno, a breed known for its many wonderful qualities, most notably playful, charming, lively, inquisitive, and intelligent.  Wanda certainly has all of these qualities and more. Although she is about 7-10 years old, Wanda has the energy and gusto of a much younger dog. She is a very bright and friendly girl, always ready to engage for playtime or affection. Wanda embraces all the attention she receives, and enjoys it all from playing with toys, playing fetch, romping in the yard, to cuddling up for love and belly rubs.             Wanda is ready to brighten up a new family with her spry, fun, sweet personality. She gets along with other dogs, but would be fine as the only dog in her new home. She currently weighs about 21-22 pounds, but should be about 18 pounds at proper weight. Wanda continues to be passed on for our Shih Tzus and other smaller, younger dogs, and has been at the rescue for way too long.  Won’t you consider giving this amazing girl a chance, and put in an application today?Please watch the video at the end of the photos to see Wanda displaying all her Podengo greatness. This little guy is 14-16 years old and cute as a button!  His mom is moving into a nursing home where he unfortunately can't join her.  Tuki is already fixed and good with some other dogs.  Has a "grumpy old man" vibe, but is a gentle boy. Tuki is in our direct from owner program, meaning that Chesed Rescue will process all adoption applications but Tuki will be adopted directly from his current family.  No fees for adoption (though we always appreciate donations to the rescue). Applications for Tuki are available at www.chesed-rescue.org/adoptions.  We background and vet check all applicants and are looking for stable homes.  December 3, 2025, 7:26 pm

Say hello to Teddy, a chi mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for life! This little guy is the definition of a cuddle bug, if physical affection were an Olympic sport, Teddy would take home the gold. Teddy is fully housebroken and potty trained- he'll even let you know when it's time to head outside like the polite gentleman he is. He's a pro at "sit, lay down, and wait" and on a good day, you might even get a roll over or a high five (especially if treats are involved- this boy will do anything for snacks). Teddy is crate trained as well! When he's not charming you with his tricks, Teddy's favorite hobbies include sunbathing, napping and hanging out at the dog park- his happy place! He gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, but prefers to keep his distance from cats (no feline roommates, please). In great health, Teddy is the perfect combo of sweet, smart loyal and low maintenance. Teddy will be right there, your loyal little shadow with a wagging tail. If your looking for a small dog with a huge personality, who will make everyday feel warmer and brighter- Teddy's your guy.
