Story
This is Rocky. We believe that he is a 14-week-old Pointer mix. Rocky came to Judy's Forgotten Jewells on June 12th. He was brought to us by a Louisiana shelter in need of help. Since he has been in care, staff members say that he loves to play football (just watch his video)! We think he'd love an active family that likes going on walks, trips to the park or other adventures. His adoption fee is $500. The adoption fee includes their care, de-worming, microchip, spay, vaccines, fecal test, and preventatives up to the point of adoption. In addition to their adoption fee, there is a $150 Puppy Package fee that includes heartworm prevention and all vaccine boosters due up to 5 months of age when the boosters are done at Jewell Animal Hospital. The next step to adopt from Judy's Forgotten Jewells is to apply. To apply, visit our website and click the "Apply for Adoption" button on a specific pet's profile. Story
** COURTESY POST ** Introducing Bowie an 8 year old handsome dude. Bowie came to PRO from Oklahoma where he was picked up as a stray by animal control and ended up on the euthanasia list because of being Heartworm positive, when PRO saw this they stepped up and found a foster home for Bowie. Bowie has had his first Heartworm treatment and will receive a second in July after that he'll be cleared for adoption.   Bowie is a sweet, precious older gentleman that has had to learn to live in a house that requires house manners.  Bowie is doing good with those but still needs some work to be a  perfect companion for a family. Bowie walks good on a leash without a strong pull. He's housebroken, crate trained, and loves affection and attention. Bowie loves to play with toys, but destroys stuffy ones.  A perfect home for Bowie is a home WITHOUT CATS, a fenced yard to exercise in. Even though Bowie is dog friendly he'll do just fine being an only dog( because he can have all the attention). Bowie is very curious if not down right nosey, he wants to know what your doing at all times, an open cabinet door is just an invitation to see what's in there. He has boundless energy, but calms down easily. Give Bowie a chance and he'll give you years of loyalty and love. If you are interested in Bowie, please contact Pointerrescue.org to complete an application. Bowie’s adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
After spending a portion of my life living outdoors with much of it on my own, I am now realizing that having been rescued by humans was not such a bad thing. I have a roof over my head and food in my stomach. I did not know how to interact with cats and other dogs at first. I do not mind their presence but have not quite figured out how to interact with them. Sometimes they, as well as humans, move a little too quickly for my comfort. For now, I may need a home without small children or a lot of high-energy activity.I truly believe that I have made a lot of progress in learning how to live within my new world but also realize that there is still room for improvement. In an environment of patience and continued love and encouragement, I hope that in time I will become much more comfortable accepting love and care from humans.I know that I will need some training in simple commands but I am really quite smart and have already figured out daily routines like how to make it known when I need to go out to potty (house broken). I walk well on a leash and LOVE my daily jaunts. Even though I do not challenge confinement such as fences and crates (actually I rather like the security of a crate at times), I find that I do sometimes yearn for the freedom of the great outdoors. If after learning all of this about me (and it's a lot!), you feel that you would be willing to open your heart and your home to include me in your family I would love to continue my life journeylearning how to be a well-adjusted loving presence in your life.Hope to hear from you soon!Vixen is four years old and weighs 42 pounds.Location: Foster homeThe adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Vixen, please call the shelter to make an appointment or complete an adoption application on our website. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing them to meeting Vixen.helpingstrays.org
