Meet Huck! This 40-pound pointer mix is two years old and has a dazzling smile that nobody can deny! This impressive pup already knows how to sit and give his paw, and is no doubt capable of learning more. He enjoys a nice face rub and is a fan of all sorts of toys and treats, which he takes gently. Huck is a great balance of cuddly and curious! Huck went on an outing with one of our awesome volunteers and he's quite the explorer. They hit the trail and he followed his nose, enjoying all the new smells along the way. He rides well in the car and walks good on his leash too. Next stop was the Metamora Farmers Market where he experienced all sorts of new things. He even hung out with some new friends along the way and was very well-behaved for some young kids that came up to meet him. As he is still a young man, Huck will benefit from daily exercise, continued training and a yard to enjoy in his new home. He enjoys the company of his fellow kennel mates and could make an excellent pal for your family fur baby. He is eager to please and will make the best bud around! Based on our evaluation, we feel Huck would best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. Those eyes will really get you; there will be no resisting! Ashland is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 51 pounds. Meet Ashland, there are no words to describe what an incredibly sweet girl she is, with the biggest heart full of love to give her family. Ashland has more of a quiet and sensitive personality, she is such a gentle soul. Her only care is to be close to you, getting love and reassurance, and resting her head in her favorite place, your lap. Sadly, Ashland is quite hand shy, often cowering and trying to make herself small when she feels uncertain. Despite her gentle and affectionate demeanor, Ashland's past has left her needing a bit of extra time and patience to build trust. She really needs a leader she can look to for comfort and guidance. Ashland is looking for someone who can help her feel safe and cherished, and in return, she will love you more than you can imagine. She may prefer a quieter, more predictable type home to match her personality and where any children are at least 13 years old. Ashland would love it if you came to meet her, we think it will take you about 3 minutes to fall in love with her! She can't wait for a family to love and treat her like she deserves. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Ashland may like to meet them. When introduced to other dogs she stays close to you, tries to hide behind you avoiding the other dog and cowers. She may be more open once she settles at the rescue and feels safe, but for sure she will need a more low-key type of dog to match her personality.
