Story
Meet Tony! SEE FOSTER UPDATES BELOW! HOUSE-TRAINED AND LOVES OTHER PUPS & KIDS! At six months old and 40 pounds, Tony is one terrific pointer/hound pup who's growing into the perfect adventure buddy! Tony is currently living it up in a fabulous foster home and we are excited to share all we've learned about this loyal and loving boy! Tony is already house-trained and was going through the process of crate-training. He's a lovey-dovey boy who absolutely adores other dogs and kids! He lives with two other pups and young children and does very well with both of them. This fun-loving boy will thrive in an active home with lots of daily exercise, continued training, and a yard to enjoy (tie out or fenced-in required). Tony is a very capable boy and already knows "sit" and "paw," making him a wonderful candidate for training. He loves exploring the world with his nose and has a blast sniffing out all the exciting sights and smells around him. If you're looking for a pal to keep you company on all of your adventures-Tony is your man! When it comes to toys and treats, Tony is appreciative of anything you have to offer. His foster family was able to take both toys and food away with no issue. He has been known to chase a squirrel or two so a home free of cats or small animals would be best. Tony is looking for a family that will help him continue to gain confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be! A home where someone is around during the day or that will include him in daily activities would be best for him. At the end of the day, Tony sleeps quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel Tony would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the ability to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the pup for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our top-notch Tony today!

Story
***Libby is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Who can resist that adorable face! Little Libby is estimated to be about 12 weeks old and weighs 10 pounds right now, but she is sure to grow. Her foster mom has a lot of wonderful things to say about her: She's a typical puppy, very playful and friendly. LOVES kids and other dogs. Libby is still tiny and may stay petite so a home with kids that are old enough to be gentle and dogs that aren't too rough would be best. Crate trained and doing good with house breaking but still has accidents if not let out often. Just starting to work on sit but she's getting it. She can be mouthy and will pounce and bite at your feet, but she likes toys so easy to redirect. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. Libby would love it if you wanted to meet her, she can't wait to grow up with her forever family. Libby is all puppy - curious, playful, entertaining, and a lot of work. He is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the love and guidance he needs. Puppies require and deserve a lot of time and energy, but they will repay their families with a lifetime of unconditional love and happiness. Libby is looking for a family to make a best friend for life! If you are interested in Libby and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
What a happy, handsome pup! Sway is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 43 pounds. Meet Sway, who only wants to be as close to you and is looking for a forever home with a family to love. This young man is a true lover boy, with a calm demeanor and a sensitive spirit. He's the type of pup who leans in giving the best kisses and enjoys nothing more than laying with you, well actually laying on you, soaking up all the attention and love you can give. Sway is well-mannered and eager to please, always wanting to make those around him proud. He already knows 'sit' and 'down,' and will easily relinquish his rawhide. Sway is simply adorable and has a sweetness that draws you in. It would be wonderful if his new family could help build his confidence. He will need a home where any children are calmer and least 8 years old due to his quieter, more sensitive personality. As you can see from his pictures, he was really drawn to one of our volunteer's 13 year old daughter, it was heartwarming to watch. Sway would like it if you came to meet him, he is going to make such a nice family member and he has so much love to give. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Sway would love to meet them. He has a friendly, loose approach with other dogs that moves into an "all in" balanced play. If you are interested in Sway and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Stan Lee! Named for the comic book king, this dapper dude is a 2-year-old, 67-pound Flat-Coated Retriever mix who is a lovable goofball that will be by your side for all of life's adventures! Not only is he one handsome fellow, he's an enthusiastic, wonderfully clumsy boy whose sweet personality shines through in everything he does. Playful, fun-loving, and always ready for what's to come, he's the perfect companion for someone looking for an active best friend. He will no doubt provide one lucky family with years of happy memories. Stan Lee recently went on an outing with some of our awesome volunteers and they couldn't get enough of this boy! They went on a 4-mile hike on the Paint Creek Trail and he was so well-behaved. They passed other dogs, people, and bikes and Stan did wonderful with all of his new surroundings. He's awesome on leash and rides well in the car too! Of course no outing is complete without a special treat-in this case a pup cup which he absolutely loved! Stan Lee will thrive with an active family that can provide daily exercise, lots of mental stimulation, continued training, and a yard to enjoy. He loves the water and finding the perfect stick to show off just makes his day! Stan Lee already knows "sit" and takes treats incredibly gently, proving that even big goofy boys can have great manners! Based on our evaluation, we feel Stan Lee is best suited for an active home with adults or families with children ages eight and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Ready to make Stan Lee part of your story?
