Story
Sweet little Bea was running around rural Georgia with her sidekick for several weeks after apparently being dumped. Everybody in the area said they were friendly, but no one knew them so they called animal control. The girls were very bonded at first, but we feel like their first love is people. They want to love people and be loved so badly but when they didn’t have any people, they became very attached to each other. Her sidekick has now found her forever home and it’s Miss Bea’s turn now. She’s exceptionally sweet and outgoing. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves to snuggle on the couch. Bea is 22 pounds and between four and five years old. WE ARE ONLY GUESSING AT HER BREED! She does not really have a JRT temperament but she has the size and cute little short tail. She is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm tested negative. She appears to be a very healthy and happy girl. She had a couple of accidents the first day in her foster home but now she’s doing very well with house training if you would like to be Miss Bea’s hero and the center of her world, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or Dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send you our information and application. Story
Socialization:  Ari is initially a bit shy in new situations and with new people. He warms up quickly and loves attention and companionship. He loves all people, is gentle meeting and greeting. Because of his age, Ari is very playful and curious. He is respectful of other dogs, submissive and can amuse himself. Ari has been introduced to dogs of various sizes, both males and females, different breeds and temperaments. Largest number at once was 13 and he adapted very well. I believe he thinks he is a 10 pound puppy because he loves to sit in your lap or drape across the back of you when space is limited next to a human. Ari shows interest in barn cats but other than meeting thru glass, he has not been in direct contact with cats. Ari enjoys going to pet-friendly places and may briefly cling and be hesitant. Once he assesses the situation he is super interested and friendly. He is an excellent rider, typically naps or will look out the window in the car. Training: Ari is crate trained, is quiet when crated and generally only crated when we need to run an errand. He has not damaged household furnishings but is a soft-toy shredding machine. Because he could be a danger to himself, we crate out of caution. Ari has not ingested pieces of objects, removing the squeaker then some stuffing and chewing bits is why we are extra cautious. Ari comes when called, knows sit, is gentle taking treats (both individually and in a group), shares toys and bones, eats in the kitchen with three other dogs. Walking on a leash is very good (he walks an hour minimum with the pack daily). He does not beg at mealtime, rather naps nearby. Ari does not rush the door and is good about waiting in the truck to have his leash on to jump out. Ari is a tall boy and will swipe anything out of the sink if the opportunity presents. By putting a little dish soap and water in a pan or dish, he will leave it alone He loves to take things into the yard and back inside. If you can’t find it, look in the yard! Activity requirements:  Ari is a young pointer. He adapts very well to routines. Much depends on if he is an only dog, is participating in structured activities like obedience classes or barn hunt or agility, or has regular playtime with other dogs. Moderate activity is adequate generally, especially if he is able to be near a human to nap! Ari is a very laid back, easy to please, gentle pointer with a sweet disposition. Fence requirements:  A physical fence is preferred for convenience and an invisible fence is also an option for him. Our yard has enrichments added with the idea that it is enough to curb the need to escape for an adventure. Ari knows what a swingset is, playhouse, sheds, patio fences/gates, a dedicated digging spot and dog door. Snow or rain does not decrease his desire to play in the yard or go for a walk. Our yard is mostly chain link perimeter with a small section of wooden privacy fence that has wire over it. Ari has never attempted to escape the yard. If his adopter does not have a fenced yard, he will need a solid daily exercise plan. Personality:  Ari is so loved by so many he has met. He sleeps in our bed or in our room at night with the three resident dogs. Sharing a spot with others is not an issue for him. Curling up in a very small space is typical. Ari loves to be near people, snuggle, be petted, and kissed on his head. He is excited to see kids. Ari has a short coat and now enjoys brushing. To clean ears and teeth, he has always been cooperative. We just were able to dremel his nails! Ari allows touching anywhere on his body. He was unsure about nails being trimmed. Health history:  Ari did test positive for giardia and worms on his first fecal exam. No symptoms observed but one of his siblings tested positive so he was tested out of precaution. Treatment with panacur resolved both issues. Ari is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, has a good appetite, skin and coat are excellent. He is on monthly heartworm prevention and his next leishmaniasis test will be due in November 2026. This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. Foster comments:  Ari is a very adaptable young dog who would do well with almost any configuration possible. Anyone experienced with sporting breeds would not be disappointed with this boy. Ari is smart, loving, happy, very easy going, quiet, highly bidable and sweet. No bad habits have emerged. I believe two or more dogs are easier than an only for most people, just because they are pack animals and having a friend to share time with gives owners some freedom. Ari is used to multiple dogs but also enjoys one on one focus. All the good qualities you could wish for! Foster location: Conesus, NY Guardian Angels: Our adoption fees are normally $490 but an anonymous donor made a donation of $340 toward his adoption fee through our Guardian Angel program! As a result, Beemer's adoption fee is $150. Read more about our Guardian Angel program here: https://givebutter.com/s34cU4 Transport note: We are able to arrange volunteer transport to get dogs from their foster home to their adopter as long as the adopter and the foster are within a 1,000 mile radius of each other and the adopter is located in the USA. If the adopter is more than 1,000 miles from the foster home, adoption would only be possible if the adopter is willing to drive the distance beyond the 1,000-mile transport limit. Long distance adoptions may also be possible if the adopter is willing to pay for a flight for getting their dog from the foster home to their location if the foster feels this is an appropriate arrangement for the specific dog. Canadian adopters would have to drive into the USA to pick up their dog, as we do not transport outside of the USA. ##2580196##

Story
Socialization: Beemer is very friendly and warms up quickly to new people. He loves when people come over and once he knows you are a friend, he is a friend too! He gets along with everyone and is very friendly and playful. He tries to get our 10 year old dog to play but listens to him when he does not want to. He is an active puppy and gets zoomies in the house. He is more submissive and has done well with all members of our family as well as people he meets. He has met people at PetCo and loved all the attention he received! However, young kids can be overwhleming for him, so he needs to go to a home with no kids or kids above 12 years of age. He was recently cat tested and he would be fine in a home with cats as well. Training: Beemer is crate trained. Since he is a puppy, it's for his own safety. He loves to chew toys up, so he should still be monitored at all times. He is well behaved in the house.  We can leave him out for short spurts of time unattended, but any longer than an hour and he might get bored and get into mischief! He sleeps in a crate at the foot of our bed at night. Beemer knows "sit" and "good potty" when he goes outside, he also knows where to go and wait for his food to be served. He is a very smart boy and learned our rules and routine very quickly here! Beemer is housetrained and will even ring the bell on our back door!   Activity requirements: Beemer is a pointer mix, but not as active as a full pointer. He loves to run and play and wrestle, but leash walks would also be ok for him, he would probably need 20-30 minutes in the morning and evening. I would prefer an area for him to be able to run off leash safely in his forever home. Fence requirements: A fenced yard is preferred for a young puppy to get all their energy out. A tired puppy makes for a well behaved puppy! Dog parks or Doggy Daycare would be ok for him as well.  He has really enjoyed the spring weather and loves to lay outside in the sunshine. Personality: Beemer is very goofy and derpy! He loves to be with us, unless he is very tired, then he doesn't follow me around like he usually does. He is very curious and inquisitive and can get into mischief. He is cuddly and playful, loves to meet new people and may just need a few moments to warm up.  He gives his noisy little yawns throughout the day that are so adorable! Health history:  Beemer tested positive for Giardia antigens in the USA, so he had the parasite in Greece, but the treatment there worked. He was also treated for a mild ear infection. He is in great health. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. His next Leishmaniasis test is due 11/11/2026. This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Foster comments: Beemer, his 9 siblings, and mom were found last summer after the fires in Greece. The puppies were only 4 weeks old when they were found. We are so happy that New Beginnings Greek Sporting Dog Rescue saved them and now they have a chance at a wonderful life! Beemer is a super sweet puppy. For being so young, he has been a relatively easy foster! He learns routine quickly and is such a silly and lovable pup. We are hopeful for a wonderful and active family to give him a lifetime of the love that he deserves! You can see more photos and videos of him on his instagram @i_love_setters Foster location: Oak Park, IL Guardian Angels: Our adoption fees are normally $490 but an anonymous donor made a donation of $340 toward his adoption fee through our Guardian Angel program! Story
Socialization: Royce is very happy-go-lucky and loves to meet new people of all genders and sizes. He can get very excited at first but mellows out quickly. He is an overall agile guy. Royce can be very playful with other dogs. He is very submissive and laid back. He warms up quickly to other dogs. With his laid-back demeanor, he would be fine with cats. He is very responsive to corrections and learns the concept of boundaries quickly. Training: Royce has been learning basic obedience and has learned sit, and he is working on down and stay. Royce is very well behaved. He loves curling up on the couch and laying down pretty much the whole time. We are at the kennel, but he loves going and running in the yard with his siblings. I would recommend that he be crated at least until he gets comfortable with his surroundings, as everything will be new to him. He doesn’t really have any bad habits and he doesn’t counter surf. He does jump up on people when first greeting them but we are working on improving that. Activity requirements: Royce is active, but mind games do help to wear him out. He would prefer a fenced yard, but daily long walks would also work well for him. We are working on leash training. Fence requirements: He would be fine without a fenced backyard if he had at least one long walk daily. Dog parks are not a good option, as multiple dogs being introduced at once can be overwhelming. He can likely be trained to an invisible fence as well. Personality: Royce is a goofball and very cuddly. He loves giving hugs and being with his people. He will lay on the couch with you as long as you would like and as long as you are near. He loves chewing on toys and playing tug-of-war with rope toys. He isn’t a huge Kong guy. Health history: Royce is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Royce tends to have a pretty sensitive stomach, so sticking to a solid food and not changing it up is highly recommended. Also not going too crazy on treats would highly benefit him or sticking to digestive treats that won't upset his stomach. He has been to the vet and has had a fecal but was cleared with no isses, so he just needs simple feedings. He is due for his next leishmaniasis test in November, 2026. This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. Foster comments: Royce is a one-of-a-kind dog! He is very goofy and bubbly, but also very laid-back. He would be the perfect addition to anyone’s home. Foster location: Kalamazoo, MI Guardian Angels: The typical adoption fee for our dogs is $490, however, Royce has $340 of his adoption fee covered by a donation through our Guardian Angel program! Story
Socialization: Young lady, Jetta, is a shy girl when you first meet her. She is submissive and will insist on belly rubs as her initial “bonding” activity. Introductions to new surroundings, people and animals should be slow – one at a time, since she can easily be overwhelmed (both leashed and/or through a fence or gate). Once she feels comfortable, she will be paws down and ready to play. Her smaller foster sister is the "Alpha" of the house, and Jetta doesn’t mind getting bossed around and being last in the pecking order. With Jetta’s young age and innocent puppy curiosity – her foster mom thinks she could eventually learn to be pals with cats, but she was not cat tested in her foster home. Training: Jetta is an impressive learner in her foster environment. NO, DOWN, LEAVE IT, SIT, COME and CRATE are her most used commands. She hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home and quickly learned that doggie doors were her gateway to freedom. She does not attempt to escape the yard, and made fast friends with the “mean” dog on the rear fence line. She loves a good pile of sticks to chew, and will dig a small hole here and there, but nothing major so far. At nighttime, Jetta is a crate superstar. She does not chew her fluffy bed, and has a plaid snuggle blankie with her since coming over from Greece. She settles in quickly and you won’t hear a single peep from her overnight. Her foster mom does crate her when she leaves home for an extended time - but it is mostly for Jetta’s safety. She is no longer being closely monitored while in the house. The few times that Jetta was “tested” for 10-15 minutes alone in the house with her foster sister, she did well, waiting anxiously at the window for her foster mom to return. Jetta still needs to learn no jumping and pawing at people, and she is making good progress at that. She is a velcro dog and wants to be as close as possible to her humans, shadowing you from room to room and laying at your feet while you work. Activity requirements: Miss Jetta gets all the activity she wants currently in her foster home. She loves to be outside in the yard during the day. She will venture out there alone sometimes and run in circles while her foster sister naps in the sun and foster mom is working inside. On average, Jetta needs a solid 1-2 hours of intense daily activity to keep her content. Walking Jetta on a leash is a work in progress. She is more of a sniffer than a walker and hasn’t quite figured out yet to keep moving. In perspective, she is doing great (considering her young age) with everything that has been thrown at her in just a few months being in the USA. Fence requirements: Jetta currently has a 5ft aluminum fence on a half-acre lot. She will not do well without a fenced yard (at least 4ft tall) and leash walks only would not be sufficient for her to run out her puppy energy. She might be receptive to an invisible fence but this is not a known nor has it been attempted in her foster environment. Personality: Jetta is very intuitive and smart but still learning her bigger size and how to be gentle. There is a sincere sweetness about her. Jetta would do best with another dog/pet around her for reassurance and comfort. She is very affectionate towards her foster sister - licking her and constantly kissing/grooming her but sometimes gnawing on hind legs and ears until her foster sister tells her to stop. She has rapidly picked up the household routine and etiquette from her observing her foster sister. She just wants your undivided love and attention by “holding” your hand or arm gently in her mouth. Health history: Jetta had a minor ear infection that has been treated and cleared. She also was treated for Giardia when she arrived from Greece and has been rechecked with a negative result. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm prevention. Her next Leishmaniasis test is due in November 2026. Foster comments: Jetta will need a loving, patient and attentive home. She will do very well with training when rewarded for good behavior. Repetitive positive reinforcement works very well on her. She is a sweet girl who is ready for her forever home! Foster location: Rock Hill, SC Guardian Angels: The typical adoption fee for our dogs is $490, however, Jetta has $340 of her adoption fee covered by a donation through our Guardian Angel program!
