PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE A TEXAS-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN TEXAS AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOUR STATE ONCE ADOPTED. Our adoption application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Meet Smee! Ahoy! I'm Smee, and just like my namesake from Peter Pan, I'm on the hunt for my very own Captain Hook... except I'm hoping mine comes with treats, belly rubs, and a forever home! Born in November 2025 and weighing around 70 pounds, I'm a big, goofy puppy with the sweetest heart. People say I look like a little cow—not just because of my adorable black-and-white markings, but because I'm built like one too! My size might be impressive, but I'm really just a gentle giant who wants to be close to my people. If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I LOVE water. Kiddie pools, stock tanks, puddles—you name it! My favorite pastime is climbing into a water tank, sinking down until I'm completely submerged, and leaving just my eyes above the surface like a little alligator. It's guaranteed to make you laugh. When I'm not making a splash, you'll usually find me carrying around a toy or convincing someone to play a game of tug-of-war. I get along great with other dogs and love having canine friends, but if you ask me what I love most, the answer is easy: people. I'm the definition of a loyal companion. I'll happily rest my big head on your shoulder or in your lap, soaking up all the love you're willing to give. Even though I'm still a puppy (which means I have the occasional silly puppy moment), I'm surprisingly laid-back and easygoing. I'm also working hard on my potty training, and I'm doing a fantastic job! I'm eager to learn and even more eager to make my family proud. If you're looking for a happy, affectionate, water-loving best friend with a heart as big as he is, then I just might be your perfect first mate. All I need now is a family to call my own. Could you be the Captain Hook I've been searching for?

Story
Thanks to a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization, my adoption fee is partially sponsored! My new family can take me home for $90! Meet Leo! Leo is a 7.5-year-old, 80-pound Pointer mix with a heart just as big as his long legs! We need a forever home for him by October! While we're not exactly sure what breeds make up his mix, one thing is certain—there's definitely something much larger like Labrador Retriever than your average Pointer in there. This handsome guy loves having plenty of room to stretch out, especially when he's relaxing near his favorite people. Leo's superpowers include being an excellent canine companion (he gets along wonderfully with other dogs), faithfully announcing when the mail has arrived, and doubling as a personal space heater—this boy is a furnace when it comes to cuddles! Leo currently takes a daily Prozac which he took to help him feel more comfortable around an energetic toddler, though he lived happily without medication for his first five years in the home. He will be ready to wean off the medication after adoption. Leo loves his daily walks and enjoys following every scent along the way. Spot a squirrel? Be prepared—he has a strong pull! Despite his enthusiasm, if he actually caught one, he'd probably just try to make friends, so hunting isn't exactly his calling. This smart boy is fully house-trained, knows his commands exceptionally well, and is convinced he understands English. He's mastered every treat puzzle he's been given in record time! Food is definitely the way to Leo's heart. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend who loves to snuggle, keep you warm, and be by your side, Leo is ready to fill that role. This gentle giant is looking for a family that will appreciate his sweet personality, give him room to stretch those long legs, and enjoy years of love and companionship together. Leo is fostered in the Cincinnati area. HIs adoption fee is $90. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Story
Meet Trenton! This good boy is the whole package! He is a mixed breed, best guess English pointer/boxer mix, and no one breed is evident. He is 2-year-old medium sized (55 pound) love bug who is gentle and adores kids. He is house trained. It does not appear he has been taught basic commands, but he should be a quick learner as he learned the doggy door ropes in a single day. The crate is not his favorite. He will go in when bribed with delicious treats and sleep quietly through the night. He mimics the vibe of the house by playing when we are active and snuggling on couch when we are quiet. He also gets along with other dogs, playing or backing off at the appropriate times. As he has settled into his foster home, he has started wrestling with the alpha dog of the house. Trenton deserves someone who will shower him with attention, car rides and rounds of fetch. He is everyone’s best friend, can he be yours? Trenton is neutered and up to date on all vaccines, flea and heartworm medication.

Story
Allow us to introduce Brisket, a handsome 1-year-old, 50lb Old English Bulldog who has officially retired from the puppy mill life and is now pursuing his dream career: Professional Family Dog. Brisket is a gorgeous brindle boy with a classic Bulldog personality and a very important daily agenda. His schedule typically looks something like this: Wake up. Wonder why everyone else is awake. Hang out. Chew hard toy. Decide the hard toy needs to be relocated to a completely different room. Create a tiny bit of chaos for absolutely no reason. Hang out some more. Make friends with foster siblings. Look innocent when caught participating in said chaos. Chew hard toy. Possibly do something productive. Decide productivity is overrated. Resume lounging. Repeat. Brisket gets along wonderfully with his foster siblings of all sizes, because apparently his friendship policy is very inclusive. Big dog? Friend. Little dog? Friend. Anyone willing to hang out? Probably friend. He's mostly house trained and mostly potty trained, which means he's well on his way to earning his official "Good Boy" certification. He's also working on his leash skills, so his future family will need to keep practicing with him and be patient while he figures out this whole walking-on-a-leash business. A securely fenced yard would be fantastic for Brisket. He can also manage small flights of stairs unassisted, proving that beneath that adorable Bulldog exterior is a tiny stair-climbing professional. Of course, Brisket is a Bulldog, so prospective adopters should understand that he may occasionally have some very strong opinions about how things should be done. These opinions may include, but are not limited to: "I don't want to move." "This toy is mine." "Why are we walking when we could be lounging?" "I have decided this is my spot." "That thing was sitting there, so naturally I had to investigate it." "I don't know what happened, but I wasn't involved." Brisket is also perfectly capable of turning an otherwise peaceful afternoon into a low-level Bulldog event. Nothing too dramatic—just enough shuffling, snorting, toy tossing, sibling antics, and general Bulldog nonsense to keep everyone entertained. After surviving life as an Amish puppy mill dog, Brisket is discovering how wonderful it feels to be safe, loved, and treated like someone's special boy. He's learning his house manners, working on his leash skills, making friends, enjoying his toys, and discovering that sometimes the best part of the day is simply hanging out with his people. Now he's ready for a forever family who will continue to give him patience, structure, love, and—most importantly—plenty of opportunities to hang out and occasionally cause a completely adorable amount of chaos. Brisket isn't asking for much. A fenced yard. Some good chew toys. A comfy place to lounge. A family to love. A little patience. And maybe a few snacks. Okay, definitely snacks. If you think your home could use a handsome brindle Bulldog with a goofy personality, a heart of gold, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting, Brisket is accepting applications for his forever family. Because this boy has spent enough time waiting. It's Brisket's turn to be spoiled, loved, and allowed to cause a little harmless Bulldog chaos. Brisket is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Are you looking for a pocket-sized, fun-loving, well-behaved dog? Then let me introduce you to Genesis! Genesis, or “Genie”, is a 4-year-old, 7lbs, mini poodle ready to take on the world! Genie is the sweetest little pup looking for a new start. Genie loves to cuddle, but she also loves to dance and play in the backyard with other foster dogs! Genie is good with dogs and cats. She is quick to get along with animals and has easily adapted to live with a rambunctious puppy, another adult dog, and three cats. She is not familiar with kids. Genie is quick to trust and loves to ask her human companions for cuddles or playtime. Genie is a little cautious around men, but with patience and love, she will be able to overcome this hurdle quickly! She lives with men and is actively working on this issue. Genie is crate-trained. She does very well in a crate, despite her playful- and sometimes hyper- nature. Genie isn’t the best on a leash, but she isn’t the worst either. She will need additional leash training for efficient walks, but she understands the basics and doesn’t hate the leash. In terms of potty-training, Genie is doing a pretty good job with potty training. She has had some accidents, but practice makes perfect. Genie is a smart girl who is eager to learn. With continued dedication, she will be trained in no time! Genie is a fearless girl who survived through so much. Now, she is ready for a more relaxing and fun life! If you are looking for a pint-sized bestie, then look no further! Consider applying for Genie today! Genesis is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. LUCKILY, the fates (and some awesome rescue folks) aligned and saved me from certain death and brought me to a safe place where I can find a REAL family and a REAL home. Let me tell you about myself, I am cute, happy, loving, nervous at times, but have the long legs of a pointer! Story
Meet Edric — but you can call him Eddie! Edric may be his official name, but “Eddie” just seems to fit him. He is one ridiculously happy puppy—a wiggly, enthusiastic little guy who approaches pretty much everything in life like it might be the BEST THING EVER. Eddie is a nonstop mover with a tail and body that seem to have only one setting: WIGGLE. Pet him? Wiggles. Give him attention? More wiggles. Bring out a toy? Prepare yourself. He gets ridiculously excited about his toys and loves grabbing a favorite stuffie and carrying it around while doing victory zoomies. Personal space is also not really Eddie's thing. He's an affectionate little goofball who thinks love means getting as close to you as physically possible—which may include putting his paws in your mouth or attempting to stick his tongue directly up your nose. Subtle? No. Adorable? Absolutely. He LOVES other dogs and currently shares his space with two other puppies. Eddie is often the one instigating the wrestling match—and then cheerleading it once everyone gets going. He's playful and social, but he's also been respectful of the cats in his foster home. And if there's a kiddie pool around, Eddie has developed his own preferred technique: dip the toes, then immediately run through the dirt. Why get completely wet when you can simply make muddy little feet? Eddie is currently working on potty training and learning all the things a young puppy needs to know. He's looking for a family ready to keep teaching him, laughing with him, and giving him plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and zoom. If you're looking for a happy, affectionate, slightly ridiculous little sidekick who will keep you smiling—and has absolutely no respect for the boundaries of your nostrils—Eddie might just be your guy.
