Ernest Hemingway (Extra Toes, Extra Love)'s Story
# Meet Ernest Hemingway the blue-eyed gentleman with extra toes and an extra-soft heart.
This stunning Siamese polydactyl boy showed up in one of our community cat colonies, painfully thin and clearly out of place. We don't know how he ended up trying to survive on the streets, but we do know one thing: the moment he came indoors, it was obvious that's exactly where he belonged.
Like many cats who've had to fend for themselves, Ernest can be a little shy at first and may get startled by unfamiliar people or sudden movements. But once he realizes he's safe, it's like watching an entirely different cat emerge.
His foster describes him as the sweetest little gentleman. Every morning he'll come over to greet you with happy little chirps, head bumps, and gentle rubs against your legs. Once you've earned his trust, he'll happily curl up in your lap, soak up forehead kisses (and sometimes even give kisses back!), and reward you with the loudest purrs and an endless batch of fresh biscuits.
When he's not busy being a cuddle bug, Ernest is surprisingly playful. He can entertain himself for hours chasing catnip toys or feather wands, happily zooming around the house before curling up in his favorite cave bed or on the softest blanket he can find. And if Churu is involved? Prepare to be amazed—he'll stand on his back legs and wrap his little paws around your arm to politely ask for another squeeze.
Ernest is an incredibly gentle and submissive cat. He absolutely loves kittens and enjoys the company of sweet, friendly female cats or easygoing companions who are kind to him. Larger, more dominant cats can intimidate him, so he'll do best as an only cat or with feline friends who will help him build confidence rather than bully him. With proper introductions, he truly enjoys having feline friends.
What makes Ernest so special isn't just his striking blue eyes or his adorable extra toes—it's the way he blossoms once he feels safe. Watching his walls come down and seeing him transform into a confident, affectionate, playful little love bug is one of the most rewarding things about knowing him.
Ernest is just a little baby at heart. All he's looking for is someone who will make him feel safe, loved, and understood. Once he knows he's home, he'll open his whole heart to you—with head bumps, lap cuddles, forehead kisses, loud purrs, and biscuits made with all those extra toes.
