Story
Buddy is the kind of little dog that quietly works his way into your heart. He is about 2 years old, under 20 pounds, and appears to be a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Buddy used to live in a real home with his owner until his owner went to prison and he ended up dumped at a small rural shelter. It is very obvious that Buddy misses being someone’s little companion. Despite all the instability in his life, Buddy has remained an incredibly sweet and affectionate little dog. He can be shy at first, but once he settles in, he becomes very loving and attached to his people. One thing to know about Buddy is that he is sensitive to yelling, harsh energy, or movements that make him think he may be in trouble. The animal control officer suspects that the family member caring for him after his owner went to prison may have been rough with him, so now he sometimes flinches or briefly worries when someone moves toward him quickly or in a way that feels confrontational, even if they are not interacting with him directly. Outside of that, Buddy is not a nervous or unstable dog at all. He enjoys affection, likes being part of the household, and settles in nicely once he realizes he is safe. Buddy is great with other dogs and cats, even kittens. One thing that stands out about him is how balanced he is socially. He is not one of those little dogs that constantly tries to dominate bigger dogs, but he is also not fearful around them. He simply coexists peacefully and confidently. Buddy would do best in a calmer home where he can fully relax back into normal life and remember what it feels like to simply be loved and safe again. Good fit: someone patient and gentle looking for a small companion dog that wants stability, kindness, and real connection. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org ✨ Meet Dorie, an adorable 3-month-old Chihuahua mix who’s ready to find a loving forever home! Though a little shy at first, this sweet pup quickly warms up and shows a gentle, affectionate personality that makes them impossible to resist. Dorie would do best in a calm home without small children, as she can be a bit timid, but older, respectful kids will be just fine. This little one gets along well with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion. With proper introductions, she should also do well in a home with cats. With a little patience and lots of love, this shy sweetheart will blossom into a loyal and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a gentle pup to grow with your family, Dorie the Chihuahua mix could be the perfect match!

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🍯💛 Meet Honey — A Tiny Drop of Sweetness with a Whole Lot of Love 💛🍯 Female • 8 Months Old • 7 lbs • Chihuahua If happiness could be bottled up into 7 tiny pounds of pure love… it would look exactly like Honey. At just 8 months old, this little Chihuahua is already a professional snuggler, certified kiss-giver, and full-time heart melter. She’s the kind of pup who doesn’t just sit next to you — she melts into you, like she’s been saving up all her love just for that moment. Honey is incredibly social and friendly, the type of girl who believes everyone she meets is just a friend she hasn’t cuddled yet. People? Loves them. Other dogs? Yes please. Cats? Totally fine. She’s basically the “get along with everyone” committee chairperson. Her personality is beautifully laid back and easygoing, making her the perfect companion whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working from home, or just need a tiny shadow following you around making life better. Her daily hobbies include: • Snuggling like it’s an Olympic sport • Handing out sweet little kisses (free of charge!) • Perfecting her “pick me up, please” eyes • Being adorable… effortlessly • Light napping with occasional cuddle breaks And while Honey is mostly sugar and sweetness, she does have a tiny dash of sass — just enough to remind you she’s still a Chihuahua with opinions (mainly about when it’s time for more snuggles). Honey is the kind of dog who will quietly, sweetly, and completely steal your heart — and then curl up in it like it’s her forever home. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let Honey add a little extra sweetness (and a whole lot of love) to your life. 🐾💛
