Story
Location: Cochrane, AB // Age: Approx 13 years old // Sex: Neutered male // Energy Level: Low // Dogs: Yes, small calm dogs // Cats: Untested, likely fine // Kids: No // 💛 Meet Torey — 13 Years Young and Ready to Be Someone’s Whole World! 🐾 If you’ve ever wished for a little companion who wants to spend every moment by your side, Torey might just be your guy! This quirky, affectionate senior has so much love to give and is looking for a special person who will welcome him into a calm home, spoil him rotten, and let him enjoy his golden years exactly as he deserves. 🐾 Torey is a true velcro dog once he bonds with you. He loves following his favourite person around the house, snuggling on the couch, and sleeping as close to you as possible. And he has plenty of personality! When he’s feeling relaxed, you might catch him sticking his little tongue out, and if you have treats, be prepared for a happy little dance. Food is definitely one of his love languages! 😂❤️ Torey can be an anxious little guy, and he needs time to feel safe around new people. He may snap if he feels frightened or is handled before he’s ready, so it’s important that his future family respects his boundaries, allows him to settle at his own pace, and understands that trust takes time. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet, loving side really shines. He takes daily medication to help manage his anxiety, and his barking has improved with medication and a consistent routine. We believe he’ll continue to thrive in a quiet, predictable environment where he feels secure and has plenty of companionship. 🐾 Torey’s dream home would be a peaceful, adult-oriented household with someone who is home often and genuinely wants a devoted little shadow. He can live with other dogs, provided they’re a good match for his sensitive nature, or he’d be perfectly happy as your one and only. We’re not recommending a home with young children, as Torey needs a calm environment where his space and boundaries can be respected. He can manage short periods alone once settled, but he’ll be happiest with a person who has lots of time to spend with him. 🐾 Like many senior dogs, Torey has a few health considerations. He has a heart murmur that does not currently require medication but should be monitored as he ages. He is still working on his house-training, so his adopter will need patience, consistency, and realistic expectations. Senior dogs deserve understanding, and Torey is looking for someone who embraces the whole package, quirks and all! 🐾 The wonderful news? Torey has completed his veterinary care, including his neuter and dental, and he’s ready to find his forever home! 🎉 Torey may not be the dog who greets every stranger with a wagging tail, but he has something equally special to offer: the chance to build a deep, meaningful bond with a little dog who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. 🐾 His ideal retirement plan includes cozy naps, tasty treats, a favourite human, and absolutely no shortage of cuddles. Could you be the person who makes Torey’s golden years his very best ones yet? 💛🐾 If you're interested in meeting Torey, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
