This is Benny. He is a neutered 8 year old, 17 pound Lhaso Apso/poodle mix. Benny has been thru alot in his life but he only wants to look forward to his furever home. Benny gets along with small or large pups. He is okay with cats. In his foster home he did mark but it only lasted for a week or 2. Benny is crate trained and would prefer to be in the kennel when his owners are gone. He feels safer. Meet Fred 🐾 Fred is an adorable adult Papillon mix who is getting a second chance at life. He came to us from a rural Illinois animal control after his owner sadly passed away. Fred had been living in a hoarding-type environment with countless other dogs, along with a dog in our care named Lucy - who may be his sister or possibly his daughter. Because of his past, Fred is still learning what it means to be a cherished family dog. He can be a little shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and a calm home, his sweet personality begins to shine through. Fred is dog-friendly and finds comfort around other pups. Fred could be adopted with Lucy or separately-though having another friendly dog in the home may help him continue to build confidence. If you’re the kind of person who understands that the best relationships take a little time and love, Fred may be the perfect little companion to grow with. 💛

Lucy is a 2–3 year old Papillon mix who recently came into our rescue after her owner passed away. She was sadly discovered living in a hoarding-type environment, and she arrived needing extensive care - but through it all, Lucy has tried so hard to be brave. At just 12 pounds, Lucy is a delicate, gentle little soul…and right now, the world feels very big and very scary. Because she was not properly socialized, Lucy is extremely shy and fearful of new people, new experiences, and sudden changes. She has no aggression at all, but she will need a patient, experienced adopter who understands that trust will take time. Lucy wants to feel safe - she just doesn’t know how yet. She does well with other dogs and previously lived with many, so a calm canine companion may help her feel more secure. Lucy is currently in the process of completing her veterinary care, and she will most likely require bilateral knee surgery in the future due to patella luxation. Despite this, she remains gentle and cooperative, doing her best through every step. Because everything is still new and overwhelming for her, Lucy would do best in a quiet home with older children or no children, where she can decompress and learn what it means to finally be safe. Lucy may not be the dog who runs up to greet you right away… But for the person willing to go slow, give her grace, and show her kindness, Lucy will be something truly special. A soft heart waiting for a soft place to land.
